Objectives:
Given the “All about Super (Students Name)” booklet and “______is a Superhero because….” paper the students will be able to write (Blooms- Knowledge) and read (Bloom’s- Knowledge) about the Superhero of the week while presenting the Superhero interest and qualities the students found about the Superhero of the week measured by teacher observation with a 95% accuracy rate. / I Can Statement:
I can write (Blooms- Knowledge) about good qualities about a classmate.
I can listen (Blooms- Knowledge) to a classmate while they are talking.
Preassessment: Instructor will pick Superhero of the week and lead discussion (Blooms- Analysis) about the qualities of the new Superhero. / Formative Assessment: Instructor will assist in writing and spelling while the students write (Blooms- Knowledge).
Instructor will have the Superhero of the week stand in front of the class and use the QR codes to read (Blooms- Knowledge) the “All About Super ______“ and the other students will stand up and read (Blooms- Knowledge) the qualities of the superhero of the week they have written. / Summative Assessment: Instructor will show (Blooms- Application) the students writing on the bulletin board and let the children read (Blooms- Knowledge) the board in groups throughout the week.
Materials/ Equipment: Pencil, Superhero poster (boy and/or girl), “All about SUPER ____” book, “All About SUPER Miss. Hoge/ Miss. Schwieterman” book (already filled out from teacher) batman writing paper, internet access, ipad, mp3 voice recording (on computer), QR scanner app, class list
Engage:
1.)  Instructor will pick a student of the week from the class roster. (Make sure each child gets picked over the course of the year)
2.)  That student will be the SUPERHERO of the week!!!
3.)  The instructor will have the Superhero of the week stand in front of the classroom to answer 10 questions so the other children can get to know the Superhero a little better.
4.)  The Superhero can choose (Blooms Analysis) five classmates who have questions to answer about the Superhero.
5.)  After the Superhero answers the five questions, the teacher will have 10 extra questions to ask the Superhero (might need to change a question or two if a classmate has already asked that question).
10 questions:
1.)  What are the foods I would rather avoid?
2.)  What is your favorite thing to learn?
3.)  What are your favorite games to play?
4.)  What are your things you would like to practice more?
5.)  What are your favorite family activities?
6.)  What is your favorite holiday?
7.)  What would you like to be when you grow up?
8.)  What would you like to learn this year?
9.)  What is your favorite part of each day?
10.)  What is your least favorite chore?
Extra questions:
1.)  What place you would like to visit?
2.)  What is something you like to do right away in the morning?
3.)  What is your favorite part of home?
6.)  Instructor will have the Superhero walk back to his desk with the “All about SUPER ______“ book to fill out.

7.)  While the Superhero is working on the book, the other students will be given a batman writing page.
Batman Paper
/ Explore/ Explain/Elaborate:
1.)  The students are to fill out the batman writing page that says, “______is a Superhero because…” with wonderful qualities about the Superhero of the week.
2.)  Instructor will walk around the classroom helping with spelling (students are first to look at the word wall and their personal dictionary at their desk before asking the instructor to spell (Blooms- Knowledge) the word).
3.)  After the students are finished writing the instructor will have each student stand up in front of the classroom and read (Blooms- Knowledge) the qualities they wrote about the Superhero of the week.
4.)  The instructor will have the Superhero come to the front of the class and sit on a stool so the presenter who is reading their batman page is talking to the Superhero about the great qualities they have.
5.)  The rest of the class is to sit quietly, listening (Blooms- Knowledge) to the presenter while they are reading.
6.)  The presenter should read (Blooms- Knowledge) from the batman paper and not tell random stories of them and the Superhero.
7.)  The presenters are to turn in the batman page in the red basket on the instructor’s desk.
8.)  The Superhero is to turn in the finished book in the red basket on the instructor’s desk. / Evaluate/ Conclusion:
1.)  During recess have the Superhero stay inside so he/she can record (Blooms- Knowledge) their voice for their book.
2.)  Instructor will get the “All About Super ______.” book out of the red tray on the desk so the Superhero can read (Blooms- Knowledge) from it.
3.)  The Superhero will read (Blooms- Knowledge) each page into a microphone set up to the computer using the mp3 voice recording program. (instructions attached to lesson)
4.)  The instructor will then dismiss the Superhero to recess
5.)  The instructor will then use those recordings and make a QR code for each page of the book (instructions attached to lesson).
6.)  The instructor will then cut out and glue the QR codes on the correct page.
7.)  The instructor will Velcro the book on the chest of the Superhero poster and hang it on the bulletin board.
8.)  The instructor will hang the batman pages around the Superhero poster on the bulletin board.
9.)  During centers throughout the week iPads will be available at a center for small groups to scan the QR codes of the Superhero book.
10.)  The small groups will be able to read (Blooms- Knowledge) the batman pages on the bulletin board after scanning and listening (Blooms-Knowledge) to the Superhero book.
How to Voice Record into a QR Code

Differentiation:
·  Have the student draw a picture and the teacher will write the sentence in the “All About Super______”.
·  The student will also record themselves for the QR code.
·  Student will write their sentence on the batman page and the teacher will write underneath with the correct spelling. / Intervention:
·  Have the students fill in the blank in the “All About Super ______” book.
·  Have these students write two qualities and explain why they are qualities of the Superhero of the week on the batman page. / Enrichment:
·  Have the students write out the whole sentence in the “All About Super ______” book.
·  Have these students write four qualities and explain why they are qualities of the Superhero of the week on the batman page.

How to Voice Record into a QR Code

1. Go to recordMP3.org

2. To record click the record button. When you are done recording click the STOP button.

3. If you want to listen to the recording click the Play button. If you don’t like the recording click on the “Start Over” button. If you like the recording, click on the “Save Recording” button.

4. After you have clicked on the “Save Recording”, there will be a box that says “Recording upload to”, copy the URL to the website http://qrcode.kaywa.com

5. Once you are in the qrcode.kaywa.com, paste the MP3 recording into the white box that says “http://www.example.com

6. Underneath the white box there are two words, Dynamic and Static. Click on the word that says Static.

7. Click on the gray box that says “Generate”.

8. Once your QR code is up, right click on the QR code and click on the word that says “Copy”.

9. Go to Microsoft Word and right click on the document and click paste. There you can enlarge or shrink the QR code.

10. When you want to record again go back recordMP3.org website and click on the “Start Over”.

11. Continue steps 1-10 till you are done.
