The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT is recruiting for 2 Policy Managers who will contribute significantly to the design and execution of J-PAL’s policy impact work, under the direction of the Director of Policy. Policy Manager is a mid-level position.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in economics, public policy or international development, including significant training in economics, plus 2 or more years of relevant experience. Interest in international development policy as demonstrated by coursework and/or study or work abroad is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

· Policy Publications: Creating policy memos and publications that “translate” J-PAL’s economic research into lessons for to policy makers around the world.

· Policy Analysis: Reviewing literature on randomized evaluations in development economics to draw out policy lessons, conducting literature reviews, undertaking cost effectiveness reviews of J-PAL’s randomized evaluations, identifying cost-effective policies and programs.

· Policy Outreach: Building relationships with partners in governments, NGOs, foundations, and multilateral aid agencies. Presenting on J-PAL and J-PAL’s research findings.

· Policy Initiatives: Organizing seminars/conferences for policy makers, assisting Director of Policy in administering and raising funds for special initiatives.

· Organizational: Helping in recruiting, mentoring junior staff.
