Safety Committee Meeting

Minutes– April 22, 2015
Call to Order*
Greg Tosti called the meeting to order at 3:31pm. Jeff Bedell, Greg Tosti, Curt Dubost, Debbie Sandoval and Susan Ford in attendance.
Review and Approve January minutes*
March minutes were reviewed and approved (Bedell/Sandoval)
Budget Report*
Budget report was reviewed and approved (Ford/Tosti)
Old Business*
Concrete/asphalt repair has been completed. Susan Ford has sent application to SISC to try to obtain money from their Property and Liability credits. Waiting on a copy of the check to send to SISC to finalize application process.
New Business*
Debbie Sandoval reported a 3 inch gap on curb between the grass and the play area. It is a tripping hazard. Greg is going to have Bobby look at it.
Debbie also asked if the janitorial services can do a better job cleaning the preschool and kindergarten areas. Greg said that Eddie is the new custodian at Cappy Culver and he’s working through the rooms.
Debbie also asked about the spider problem at Cappy Culver. Greg mentioned he needs to look into having an outside entity vs. MOT doing it. He is working on it.
Cappy Culver is still experiencing a cord problem with the Elmos. Room 106 has a partial cord sticking out and kids are tripping. Greg said that Bobby will take care of it as he has plenty of cord cover.
Susan Ford reported that SIPE has asked all districts to approve their incentive program/budget for the 2015-16 school year. There are tax complications with the schools issuing gift cards. There is a survey that needs to be completed by May 1 and from those results, SIPE will determine how we can award incentive prizes. The incentive program for the 2015-16 school year at SMJUSD will be $800. Curt Dubost made a motion to approve the $800 budget and Jeff Bedell seconded the motion.
Risk Management Report*
RMC was cancelled in April. The next meeting will be in May.
Accidents, Near Hits and Misses*
There were no near hits, misses or accidents for employees since the last meeting. There were a total of 5 student accidents.
