A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 742 OF 1946, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE LORIS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL DISTRICT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT TWO COMMISSIONERS SHALL RESIDE IN THE COUNTY INSTEAD OF THE DISTRICT AND TO REQUIRE THESE TWO COMMISSIONERS BE ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE MEDICAL STAFF.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 2 of Act 742 of 1946, as last amended by Act 475 of 1998, is further amended to read:

“Section 2. The affairs of the district must be managed and conducted by a commission to be known as Loris Community Hospital Commission, which is comprised of nine members. Members A member must be appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the Legislative Delegation from Horry County for terms of six years and until their successors are his successor is appointed and qualify. In the event of If a vacancy by reason of death, resignation, or removal occurs, the vacancy must be filled in the manner of the original appointment. Appointments An appointment must be made so that at least five members of the commission represent the townships of Simpson Creek, Green Sea, Floyds, and Bayboro. Two of the remaining appointments must be made so that two members residing in any part of the district Horry County are appointed to represent the medical community who must be active members of the medical staff of the district, and one member must be appointed to represent the Little River Township.”

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
