Artwork Instructions – Assignment 1 Line Project
You will be creating a line drawing that will help build your drawing skills. This line drawing will contain three curvilinear or geometric shapes. You will draw the three shapes and then draw slow, dark, consistent, parallel lines around the 3 free forms you have created on the paper. The shapes will be identified with the first two lines, followed by the remainder of the lines being parallel around the shapes. Value and style of lines must all be consistent. All lines begin at one edge and exit at another edge of the paper. Lines must be parallel and very close together. You will fill the entire paper. No rulers are allowed for straight lines.
Steps:
1. Do a rough draft of your project. Show the teacher when you are ready to begin. She will sign off if you are ready to start your final artwork.
2. Draw your three geometric or free form shapes in the middle of your paper that extend off the edge of the paper. The first two lines define the negative shapes. Lines should be dark, consistent and slowly drawn.
3. Continue creating parallel lines around the shapes. Lines should be parallel, of the same value, and drawn close together. Lines should not overlap.
4. When you are done show the teacher to make sure you are completed. This is an important step, because the teacher may have some suggestions to improve your artwork and thus improve the grade you will get on it.
5. When you are done you will answer the reflection questions on creating your artwork.
6. Then staple your artwork with your rough draft and the grading rubric together and turn in where the teacher has indicated.
