The Student Government Association of Mt. San Jacinto College met via video conferencing, commencing at 12:30p.m. on November 2, 2010 in Room 805-MVC, and Room 1111-SJC.

II. Information Items
A. Executive Officers’ Reports
1. Ana reminded the board about the Hemet Holiday Parade and asked for participation. She will send out another email. She researched some information about speakers to address bullying on campus and shared more specifics about the topic. She will found out about pricing and let the board know.
2. Yesenia emailed helpothers.org and submitted a bulk order request for “Smile Cards.”
B. Student Trustees Report
1. Josh Jimenez reported for Dr. Bill Vincent about accreditation and district committees. Dr. Vincent said that the MSJC board was experiencing a lack of student participation for this process. Now, they are willing to work around student’s schedules to ensure participation. Josh reviewed the four standards that must be met for accreditation as well as their associated committees. These committees need to be fulfilled in the next two weeks. A signup sheet was passed around.
C. Staff Reports
1. Donna reminded the board that there is no meeting next Tuesday because of our November BBQ. A signup sheet was passed around for BBQ volunteers. Flyers for the BBQ were passed around and the November BBQ committee was reminded of their duties. Donna reviewed the Veterans Day event that is taking place on both campuses. Donna announced the MSJC’s board meeting time change. SGA’s T-shirts have arrived for all board members. Donna announced details about the 2nd annual student photo collection contest.
2. Sandi announced that she will not be in her office this Friday.
D. Members At Large
1. Jose announced that the LRC cancelled their presentation to SGA today. He will ask Albert Jimenez if he can reschedule for 11/23. Jose announced that UCR is hosting a field trip on 11/15 for students interested in a Science/Medical major.
IV. Discussion Items
A. Dr. Bill Vincent, Vice President of Student Services-Discussion about Accreditation and District Committees-Student Trustee Josh Jimenez attended meeting for Dr. Vincent, and discussed Accreditation Committee needs under Student Trustee Report (above).
B. December BBQ Theme “Be a Giver: Pay it Forward.” –Dates will be 12/7 on MVC and 12/9 on SJC. Discussed possibilities for food options. Ideas to give away the “Smile Cards.” The board will wear Santa hats and give away hot chocolate.
C. Speakers on Campus to Address Student Issues: -See Ana’s Board Report.
D. Possible Events For SGA-Yesenia will re-email ideas document and bring hard copies to next meeting.
E. Volunteer Opportunity: Santa’s Workshop and Others-Santa’s workshop community project to take place in Menifee
on 12/18. The board decided to participate in this. Yesenia will get in touch with the contact for this project and
report back on what the board may do to get involved. Gaby announced an opportunity to volunteer with a church
group on 11/14 at 1pm. Ask Gaby for details.
