PURPOSE:
To manage the day to day operation of the tree management and maintenance service, preparing and managing work programmes for the tree team, coordinating with other departments through an integrated IT system. To collate and disseminate performance management information, health and safety requirements and all other functions relating to the tree team.
CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure specific services provided by the tree maintenance team are delivered to customer expectations and the Council’s customer care standards.
2.To ensure that customer and financial information is collected and analysed in line with corporate guidance.
- Ensure that the required financial and customer performance information is collected, analysed and utilised for service delivery decision making.
- To identify training and development needs and ensure the skills and competencies of staff within the tree maintenance team are developed to meet service delivery requirements.
- To participate in working groups, review teams and other initiatives to promote joint working within the Council.
- To undertake all Corporate requirements on health and safety, equality, data protection, risk management and financial regulations.
- To ensure the implementation of all Corporate policies and procedures within the tree maintenance team.
SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To manage the tree maintenance team ensuring that programmed and reactive work is carried out in accordance with agreed service delivery and customer care standards.
- To ensure regulatory processes are followed in respect of Tree Preservation Orders and other planning requirements.
- To undertake inspections as directed by other departments in a timely and accurate manner.
- To work with the Head of Environmental Management on service planning processes and in developing strategies that deliver corporate objectives and continuous service improvement.
- To ensure that resources are deployed appropriately to deliver efficient and effective services in accordance with agreed service delivery standards.
- To ensure that all cyclical work programmes are planned and delivered in accordance with agreed service standards and are effectively managed to meet service demand.
- To monitor performance of the tree maintenance team to ensure service delivery standards are being achieved.
- To liase with customers ensuring their requests are dealt with in accordance with relevant service delivery standards.
- To ensure plant and equipment deployments necessary to deliver cyclical work programmes are maintained.
- To develop policy and strategic initiatives in partnerships with others to improve the environmental conditions of the Borough
- To research, write and present reports to senior management and committees as required.
- To ensure all Corporate requirements relating to health and safety, equality, the storage and handling of information, data protection, risk management and financial regulations are met.
12To attend any meetings of the Council or outside bodies as required. This will include out of hours meetings
