Guidance for applicants 2018/19
- Conditions and Eligibility
●You must be in possession of an offer letter to commence in 2018/19 on a masters course at Cardiff University, i.e. a course leading to an MA, MSc, MBA, MEd or LLM.
●The studentship is only open to full-time students studying at Cardiff University
●You should have a good honours degree or equivalent from a recognised institution of Higher Education, or have experience which demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skills at honours degree standard. You should also have the required English level for your course.
●Santander Scholarships are available for full-time master’s degree courses taught at Cardiff University (distance learning courses are not eligible)
●All scholarships are for a period of one year only covering the 2018/19 academic year. Students will be notified of the total amount in the awarding letter.
●Please note that the annual tuition fees for international students range from circa £15,000- circa £39,000 according to your degree programme. You should allow a minimum of circa £900 per month to cover living costs for a student lifestyle, including accommodation. The Santander scholarship offers only partial funding for your studies. If you are successful in securing the scholarship you will need to pay the balance of your tuition fees plus living expenses.
2. Application procedure
●Complete ALL relevant sections on this form
●Ensure that you have included the following documents along with your complete application form:
oA copy of your transcript(s) from your most recent programme of study. This should be in English
oA copy of your offer letter from Cardiff University (if applicable)
oA copy of your English language test score. This can be IELTS, Pearson PTE or equivalent
3. Criteria for selection of candidates
Santander Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence and the suitability of candidates for their chosen courses in terms of how the course builds on previous education and experience, and relates to career ambitions/personal development.
4. Selection process
Successful applicants will normally be notified by the middle of June. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified of the result and should assume that they have been unsuccessful if they do not hear anything by 1st August 2017. The Scholarships are awarded to new full-time students enrolling on masters courses in September of the academic year 2018/19. Candidates may not under any circumstances defer take-up of a scholarship until a later date.
