Orders & Observations Conference Call Minutes
18-October-2007
Attendees: Ted Klein, Joann Larson, Hans Buitendijk, Ken McCaslin
V2.6
· There are two issues that Joann raised related to wrapping up V2.6
1. Section 4.13.14 Pharmacy/Treatment Refill Authorization Request Acknowledgment Message: a new segment was inserted [{NTE}] after RXE to be in sync with 4.13.6 Pharmacy/Treatment Encoded Order Acknowledgment Message.
The rationale for this change was that these messages share the same message structure RRE_O12.
The Publishing committee is of divided opinion as to whether or not this is a substantive change and plans to seek the advice of the ARB. There is also divided opinion if this change can be applied without consent of OO.
2. Section 4.5.3.15 Specimen Source, User-defied table 0369 Specimen Role: added E, F, G, L, O, V (see 7.4.3.11).
Currently the table appears in both chapters and is inconsistent. Note that 4.5.3.15 has been deprecated. Is it the intent of OO to continue displaying the table in 2 places?
· Since we did not have quorum to make decisions, we only talked of suggestions.
1. One can argue that introduction is a technical edit (consistency) or substantive change (new segment in a message). There are actually some other places where the NTE is missing from a consistency perspective, so if Publishing allows the fixes, OO would likely accept this. But to avoid confusion, putting this into V2.7 process should not be a problem either as this issue has not been raised in the number of years that V2.4/2.5 has been in place where these issues occur.
2. Suggestion is to just point to the table in Chapter 4 without enumerating the values to avoid having to fix something again on a deprecated field.
· Joann will present a couple of V2.7 proposals that require OO feedback before proceeding in other committees.
