ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 18, 2013

~ Hey Panthers ~ Each Thursday is designated as a KPHS “Be the Change Day”. Please wear your orange UB4 ME shirt or your “Be the Change” shirt tomorrow. We still have a few orange shirts for sale at the front desk for $5.00 each. Don’t forget to be the change you want to see in the world.

~ Kpark Project Grad ~ - Please come support Project Graduation at KPHS Night at Cici’s this Thursday, 2/21!! A portion of the proceeds go directly to Proj. Grad. Come out all of y’all and support KPHS!!

~ Silver Stars ~ On Saturday, the Silver Stars competed solos at Goose CreekMemorialHigh School. The following earned a Division 1: Gracie Crawford, Jessica Arnold, Kris Love, and Jeanne Marie Truglio. Congratulations!!

~ FFA~ Congratulations to all the exhibitors who participated in the Humble Livestock Show. We had 25 students make the sale and they earned over $97,000 collectively.

This week is National FFA Week! Today’s agricultural fact is: In 1928 the FFA began with only 33 members, and today we have over 557,000 members nationally and TEXAS holds over 15% of the national membership.

~ KPARK Girls Softball ~ The Softball team started off the year with a win over Channelview 11-3. Veyda Rodriguez started the year going 3 for 5 at the plate including a monster 2-run homer. Devon Drew pitched a great game, giving up only 1 hit.

The JV softball game also defeated Channelview by a score of 19-1. Cali Serrano was dominate as the winning pitcher, and she also ended the game with an inside-the-park homer. Next game is Tuesday (2/19) 4:30/6:00 home game vs. Humble.

~ Kpark Swimming & Diving ~TheBoys team won the meet and our Girls team finished second. We are very pleased with these finishes as it wasa long drive to FortBendand a long two days of swimming in a pool that we had never swam in before.

On the Boys side, we qualified all three relays for the state meet.Our Medley relay were the region champions, while our 200 and 400 Freestyle relayswere state qualifiers.Swimmers on each relay are as follows:

MEDLEY:MARK GARNER, SAM POULIN, DAVID STOLARZ, KYLE LANG.

200 FREESTYLE: JACK BALOG, KYLE LANG, SAM POULIN, NATHAN TOWNSEND.

400 FREESTYLE: JACK BALOG, MATT CROWE, NATHAN TOWNSEND, MARK GARNER.

We also qualifiedfive swimmers and one diver in their individual events. We are very excited about taking a diver to state for the second year in a row. Individual qualifiers are as follows:

100 FLY: MARK GARNER (REGION CHAMPION)

SAM POULIN (STATE QUALIFIER)

100 BREAST: DAVID STOLARZ (REGION CHAMPION)

50 FREE: JACK BALOG (STATE QUALIFIER)

On the Girls side, we qualified one relay. Our Medley relay were the region champions. Swimmers on this relay are as follows:

We also qualified two swimmers in their individual events with both of them winning the region championship. Those girls are:

If you have these awesome athletes in your class, please congratulate them and wish them luck as they depart for the State Swimming Championships at the University of Texas in Austin next Thursday. ~ Humble Council of PTA’s ~ Last Friday, the Humble Council of PTA’s honored nine students from the district with Student Leadership Awards for their work with PTA and PTSA. Four of those students were from KingwoodPark. They are as follows:

~ Seniors 2013 ~ The senior picnic is on Friday, April 12th at H&H Ranch. Time is running out to purchase your ticket. There will be a lot of fun activities including beach volleyball, a lazy river, basketball, horseshoes and a few other surprises.You do not want to miss out.Students who do not attend the picnic will remain on campus in either the LGI or another room with a teacher. If you need a flyer, you can pick one up at the front desk. If you purchase by March 1styou can choose to purchase a beach towel to take to H&H Ranch.After March 1st, the cost will increase. The absolute deadline to purchase a ticket to the picnic is Friday, April 5th. There will be no exceptions after Friday, April 5th to purchase a ticket. ~ Dungeons & Dragons Club ~ Kpark is now featuring a Dungeons and Dragons Club every Friday starting January 11th, from 3-4 pm in Room 2301. Come for some tabletop fun, and adventure, but be sure not to roll a 1 and critical miss out.

~ SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION ~ Information regarding the Deerwood Elementary Teacher Scholarship is now available at the Deerwood Elementary website. All of the application guidelines, along with the application forms, are posted there. Please be mindful of the deadlines. Thank you for your interest.

~ From the College Room Advisor ~ Seniors who have received the Lone Star meeting information for Monday 2/25 must see the Registrar for an unofficial transcript THIS week. She will not provide you with your transcript on Monday!!
