CONSTITUTION

OF THE STETSON REPUBLICANS

ARTICLE I

LEADERSHIP

SECTION 1. OFFICERS

(1)Executive Council: The elected officers of the Stetson Republicans are the President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer, and the Secretary, and Parliamentarian, which constitute the Executive Council of the Stetson Republicans.

(2)Duties: The specific duties of all offices are outlined in the By-Laws of the Stetson Republicans, and may be altered and amended by a majority of the Executive Council. Any changes to the official duties of the offices of the Stetson Republicans shall take effect at the beginning of the next term of office for that position.

(3)Additional Official Positions: If other officer positions are deemed necessary by a vote of the Executive Council, then additional positions may be adopted and filled; the duties of such positions may be added to the By-Laws by amendment.

SECTION 2. STANDING COMMITTEES

(1)Purpose: The Stetson Republicans shall maintain a number of Standing Committees to help maintain regular political involvement in the community.

(2)Leadership: Standing Committees shall be led by a Chairperson who either is a member of, or shall be appointed by, the Executive Council. Standing Committee Chairs shall attend all regular Executive Council meetings for the duration of their service as Chairperson, and provide regular progress reports on the activities of their committees.

(3)Governance: The activities required of each Standing Committee shall be outlined in the By-Laws of the Stetson Republicans, and additional Standing Committees may be added to the By-Laws by Amendment. The Vice President shall assist the Standing Committee Chairs in the execution of their duties, and shall have ultimate oversight responsibility for these committees.

SECTION 3. SPECIAL COMMITTEES

(1)Purpose: The Stetson Republicans may, as needed, adopt Special Committees to address particular activities or timely interests of the group.

(2)Leadership: Special Committees shall be led by a Special Committee Chair who either is a member of, or shall be appointed by, the Executive Council. Special Committee Chairs shall attend all Stetson Republicans Executive Council meetings for the duration of their service as Chairperson, and provide regular progress reports on the activities of their committees.

(3)Governance: The duties and term of the Special Committees and Special Committee Chairs shall be outlined by the Executive Council upon creation of the Special Committee. The Vice President shall assist the Special Committee Chairs in the execution of their duties, and shall have ultimate oversight responsibility for these committees.

SECTION 4. HANDBOOK

The Secretary shall establish handbooks for the various officer functions as shall be deemed prudent. The handbooks:

(1)Shall be the Official Rules of the Stetson Republicans regarding the matters addressed in them subject to the Constitution and By-Laws of the organization and published school policy.

(2)Shall establish Definitions and Rules of operation and procedure for the bodies, agencies, projects, and operations to which they are addressed.

(3)Shall be the property of the organization which shall reserve the exclusive right to publish, modify, or rescind the various handbooks as determined by a majority vote of the Executive Council.

ARTICLE II

MEETINGS

SECTION 1. MEETINGS OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

The Stetson Republicans shall hold regular meetings of general membership. Standards for the execution of these meetings shall be outlined by the By-Laws of the Stetson Republicans, and the Secretary shall maintain records of these meetings.

SECTION 2. MEETINGS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The Officers of the Stetson Republicans shall hold regular meetings of the Executive Council prior to each meeting of the general membership in order to discuss and establish agenda. Additional meetings of the Executive Council may be called as deemed necessary by the President. Standards for the execution of these meetings shall be outlined by the By-Laws of the Stetson Republicans. Executive Council meetings shall be open to the public, and the Secretary shall maintain records of these meetings.

ARTICLE III

ELECTIONS

SECTION 1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

(1)Elections shall occur once a year and follow the procedures outlined in the By-Laws of the organization.

(2)Elections shall begin with a nomination period, followed by an opportunity for candidates to present their platform and qualifications for the position to which they have been nominated, and then an election open to all members of the Stetson Republicans able to serve a full one-year term. Specific elections procedures shall be outlined in the By-Laws and shall be administered by the Secretary.

ARTICLE IV

AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION

The Constitution shall be amended upon a majority vote of the Executive Council and a subsequent majority vote of the organization members voting at a designated referendum.

ARTICLE V

EFFECTIVE DATE

The Constitution shall come in to effect immediately upon ratification.
