A Note from the President
I want to thank everyone for their donations to the hurricane victims. For those of you not in attendance at the September meeting, we decided to donate the door prize money to the Red Cross. In addition, we thought it would be nice if the guild would match what we collected. We are sending almost $500.00.
I think that you guild members are terrific. Thank you.

Quilt Show Update
It’s time to start thinking about exhibiting your beautiful work in the MVQG Quilt Show, May 18–21 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum in Dayton.
We have great news this year: There are more categories in which your quilts can be judged (at the recommendation of previous judges), and there will be more ribbons awarded! (Non-judged quilts do not have to be put in categories.)
One significant change is that if you have someone else quilt your pieced top, it needs to be entered in the “team” category. This will give much-deserved recognition to those who piece AND quilt their exhibit! Additionally, we are adding a “quilting” division, to include categories for hand-quilting and for domestic and long-arm machine quilting. Note that the exhibitor must have done the quilting him/herself.
This year, we are asking you to provide more information regarding the source of your pattern. Unless your quilt is an original pattern, please include pertinent information such as artist, magazine/book, workshop title and instructor, and anything else that further gives credit to the source. Artists work hard on their patterns, and we need to give them proper recognition!
Here are important dates for you to mark in your calendars:
April 11, 2006Pre-registration Deadline

May 18, 2006, morningNon-judged Quilt Turn-in

Watch for more details later—It’s going to be a beautiful show!

AQS Members Rally
To Aid Hurricane Katrina's Victims
All of us have watched in horror, as Hurricane Katrina pounded the GulfCoast recently.
Quilters are always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. We are depending on that generosity as we launch AQS Quilters to the Rescue.
The American Quilter’s Society will act as a repository for quilts to be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
This will be a long-term commitment. We will receive quilts into our warehouse and pack them to be shipped on to the disaster areas, when and where requested by the aid groups. Our Paducah, Kentucky, location is the perfect launch point for the aid. We are asking for completed bed quilts and baby quilts only. Do not send quilting supplies, wallhangings or unfinished quilts.
With colder weather just two months away, quilts made with loving care will offer comfort to those facing winter and rebuilding their lives. As many as a million people may be left homeless due to this catastrophic disaster. It is likely that many people will be in shelters and other relocation facilities through much of the winter.
Quilts will be needed! So spread the word!
Send donated quilts to:
