1.  Awarded with Full Scholarship to attend FIRST ASIAN REGIONAL CONFERENCE of SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH ON NICOTINE AND TOBACCO (SRNT), held during 28-31 Oct. 2008, at Bangkok / Thailand.

2.  Awarded with “YOUNG LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP” in Smoking Control at the “8th Asia-Pacific Conference on Tobacco or Health” held in Taipei/Taiwan during 17-20 Oct. 2007. This Award had been instituted for the first time in the year 2007, which shall be issued once in three years to Five Smoking Control Leaders selected Globally. It is a rare honor to receive this Award in the year of inception itself.

3.  Awarded with Full Scholarship for attending the “8th Asia-Pacific Conference on Tobacco or Health” held in Taipei/Taiwan during 17-20 Oct. 2007.

6.  Awarded with Full Scholarship for attending the “7th Asia Pacific Conference on Tobacco or Health” - held during Sep.2004, at South Korea. In this Conference, I have presented three Abstracts on “Youth Smoking Prevenion”. (Page Nos. 170, 195 and 152 of Conference Brochure of "7th Asia Pacific Conference on Smoking or Health", South Korea).

7.  Awarded with the “International First Prize” for coining the “BEST Anti Smoking Slogan” at “7th Asia Pacific Conference on Smoking or Health” - held during Sep.2004, at South Korea.

8.  Awarded Full Scholarship to the “Pre-Conference Workshop on Smoke-free Workplaces”, co-organised by the American Cancer Society and Advocacy Forum for Tobacco Control - held on 26 Jan 2006 at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

11.  Coveted Winner of the “BHEL Excellence Award for Social Service” - for creating Anti-Smoking Awareness”, during Nov. 2005. It is the highest award instituted by M/s BHEL, one of the biggest nine Public Sector Companies (Indian NAVRATNA Company), owned by the Government of India. M/s. BHEL employs more than 60000 (sixty thousand) employees across India.

12.  Awarded with Part Scholarship for attending the “2007 National Conference on Tobacco or Health”, held at Minneapolis (USA), during 24-26 October 2007. – However, I could NOT attend this Conference for want of Travel assistance.

13.  Collector of Tiruchirapalli District (Tamilnadu - India) granted a purse of Indian Rs. 5000/- for organising the QUIT&WIN-2004 Campaign at Tamilnadu. (“QUIT Smoking & WIN Health” – QUIT&WIN – is an International Smoking Cessation Campaign – internationally coordinated by the National Public Health Institute of Finland and supported by WHO).

14.  “National Public Health Institute of FINLAND” had recognized with the post of “CHIEF ORGANISER in INDIA” for "QUIT&WIN-2006" campaign.

15.  Organisers of the IUHPE Conference at Vancouver, Canada- 10-15 June 2007 -- had accepted an Abstract on Smoking Control for presentation in the Conference (IUHPE--International Union for Health Promotion and Education – However, I could NOT attend this Conference for want of Travel assistance).

16.  Organising Committee of the "12th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (12th WCTOH)" held at Helsinki/Finland during 2003, had accepted two Abstracts on Smoking Control for presentation at 12th WCTOH and extended an invitation to present the papers at the Helsinki Conference. (However, I could not attend the Conference due to lack of financial sponsorship).

16. Organising Committee of the 13th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (13th WCTOH) held at Washington/USA during 2006, had accepted two Abstracts on Smoking Control for presentation at 13th WCTOH and extended an invitation to present the papers at the Washington Conference. (However, I could not attend the Conference due to lack of financial sponsorship).

5. Brief list of significant activities being carried out :

1.  Frequently visiting Primary Schools / Secondary Schools and Colleges in and around Tiruchirapalli and delivering Anti-Smoking Lectures, along with multi-media aides, to create awareness among the Youth about the ill-effects Smoking. Targeting the Youth / School-Children, I am focusing my efforts for “BUILDING A BRIGADE OF ANTI-SMOKING YOUTH AMBASSADORS TO CREATE A SMOKE-FREE SOCIETY BY 2015 AND BEYOND”. Motivating the Youth / School-Children to start ANTI-SMOKING- CLUBS in the Schools – with a view to create SMOKE -FREE-SCHOOLS.

2.  Frequently visiting Industrial-houses in and around Tiruchirapalli and talking to the industrial-works (most vulnerable group of the Society gravely afflicted with Smoking habit) – to create awareness on the ill-effects of Smoking. – with a view to create SMOKE-FREE WORKPLACES.

3.  Conducting the Smoking Awareness Programs and Exhibitions for the benefit of benefit of the Industrial workers, Manual-Labourers and Daily-wage-earners.

4.  Arranging Anti-Smoking-Exhibitions and Rally(s) with the help of NCC Cadets.

5.  For the first time in India, during 20024 - made a tie-up with Dr. Andrew Lawson of New Zealand, (a Smoking Control Software Developer), for free distribution of 1000 Nos. of hi-tech Smoking Cessation Software License to the Indian Public, worth around Indian Rs. 30 Lakhs.

6.  Conducting many street-corner Anti-Smoking Meetings to create awareness on the ill-effects of Smoking, among Slum-Dwellers / Gypsy-population (Narikoravar Community), living in and around Tiruchirapalli.

7.  Visiting Faculty to Industrial establishments / Hospitals in around Tiruchirapalli for delivering lectures on the ill-effects of Smoking.

8.  Many Rotary / Rotaract Clubs at Tiruchirapalli utilizes my services for creating awareness on the evils of Smoking-use.

9.  Regularly delivering Guest-Talks/Lectures in the Tiruchirapalli All India Radio (AIR) for creating Awareness on Smoking among the common public and youth.

10.  Coined more than 2500 Anti-Smoking / Anti-Smoking Slogans in English Language and more than 1000 Slogans in Tamil Language – to motivate both the Smokers and Non-Smokers not to toe the Smoking line. (Tamil is a popular regional languages widely spoken in India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka)

11.  Utilising all the Monthly Meetings of the “Tiruchirapalli Intellectuals Forum”, conducted on the second Sunday of every month, for propagating the Smoking Control messages.

12.  Frequently conducting Street-corner Smoking Control Campaigns in and around BHEL Township, Tiruchirapalli-14, INDIA.

13.  During Lunch-break of BHEL/Tiruchirapalli, counseling at least one Smoker, near the Canteen of BHEL/SSTP, about the ill-effects of Smoking.

14. In constant touch with many International Anti-Smoking Activists/Experts and compiling Smoking Control Campaign materials, for use in India.

15. Utilising every opportunity to reach to the Smoking-youths at small Pan / Beeda Stalls, and talk / counsel them about the ill-effects of smoking and Smoking.

16. Active Co-organiser of all types of Anti-Smoking Programmes organsied by the Community Health Services wing of the BHEL Medical Department, Tiruchirapalli-620014.

17. Collected and compiled a CD-ROM with striking Smoking-control images/cartoons/posters/pictoons for presentation in Smoking Control Campaigns.

18. Conceived and written a Drama to spread the message among the Youth - why they should lead a Smoking-free Life-style.
