The following list of apps was crowd-sourced by the Little-eLit think tank. It is categorized according to the five practices of Every Child Ready to Read v2 (Read, Write, Sing, Talk, Play). Many of these apps have practical applications in storytime and all are wonderful apps to recommend to families. Apps that were free at the creation of this list are indicated.However, there may have been fluctuations in prices since then.

Collins Big Cat: It Was a Cold, Dark Night (Harper Collins Publishers) [free]–the cool thing about this one is that you can read the story, then use the Story Creator to make your own stories using props and backgrounds from the original (plus a few extras). Caregivers can type the words for the new story, and the new story can be saved. Great for building narrative skills, and can also go under Talk.
