"He is the Shepard, We are the sheep"

January 17, 2017

Well, we hope everyone enjoyed the four-day weekend. Remember that the science projects are due on Thursday, January 26th, The students always look forward to presenting their projects to the class, and we always look forward to hearing about what they have accomplished.

Today, we had our Reconciliation retreat. Thank you to all the parents who came to help. We had a great time learning about, playing games, creating, and hearing stories about our Shepard, Jesus. We also toured the church with Father Roberto.

We are excited, as we prepare for our First Reconciliation this week. Mrs. VanderKlugt's class will receive the Sacrament on Wednesday, and Mrs. Bento's on Thursday. Your child/ren have been working very had, and we are so very proud of them. Please plan on meeting in the church on your child's Reconciliation night. Students should wear their church clothes, no jeans or uniforms. Please plan to be at the church by 6:45. This is a beautiful sacrament, and we look forward to sharing this experience with you and your child. We will be having a Reconciliation celebration for both classes on Friday. This is a special time for our classes to celebrate with one another. Students may have free dress on Friday. Please be sure to check the handbook on the guidelines- no sweats please. If you are scheduled to bring in an item for our treat on this day, please send it in on Friday morning. We will be watching a movie as part of our celebration as well.

There will be no spelling test or reading log this week. During math this week, we will learn to find the sums for three and four addends. We will finish up our Superkids magazine this week as well.

We hope you have a wonderful week, and we look forward to seeing you at Reconciliation.

GRANDMA JACKIE'S CORNER…..

Hi all: This is such a great week for the second graders and their families. It starts with a retreat followed by two nights of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and ends with a celebration. What more can anyone ask for!!!!! I was speaking with another grandparent ( of a fourth grader) last weekend and she was telling me how wonderful Holy Rosary School is and how special second grade had been for her grandchild. She said the teachers do so many special things in preparing for the sacraments. I agreed whole-heartedly!!! I hope you realize how blessed these children are and you too as their family. They will come to the sacrament of Reconciliation completely prepared. I am excited that I will be a part of the activities this week. And yes, I am excited that my own grandson will be a part as well.

As I told you at the workshops if anyone seems to be struggling at the Sacraments on Wednesday or Thursday, I will be happy to talk with them. Sometimes a non-family member does what mom or dad can't do. Remember how good the children can be at Grandma's house and then they come home...

Wishing you many blessings this week.
