CHAMPIONSHIP SWIM MEET
July 27, 2002
HOST: Taft Swim Team
LOCATION: N.O.R. Community Pool, 401 Galaxy Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93308
(South of North High School athletic field; see Directions, below)
PARTICIPANTS: All clubs which are members of the Kern County Swim Team Council. Swimmers must be in good standing with their respective clubs. To qualify for entry to this meet, swimmers must have competed in 3 other meets as approved by the Council. (Council swim meets between May 18 and July 21, inclusive.)
COURSE: 25-yard pool with 6 lanes.
TIME: The first event will begin at 9:00 AM. Warm-ups will be from 8:00 to 8:45. Check-in by 8:30 a.m.
RULES: 1. With regard to stroke & turn, 2002 U.S. Swimming rules will govern the meet.
2. Swimmers must compete in age groups based on their ages as of July 27, 2002.
Age groups are listed in the Schedule of Events.
3. For seeding purposes, swimmers must submit best times for events entered, or use our times of record.
4. Each swimmer may enter no more than 3 events. Events may not be changed on the day of the meet.
5. Any protest must be referred to a team coach who will present it to the meet director.
The decisions of the meet director will be final.
6. This is a preliminaries and finals meet for events 1 through 80 and timed finals for the remaining events. The swimmers finishing 1st through 6th in the preliminaries will compete in the finals to determine the top 6 awards. The 7th and 8th place swimmers in the preliminary will be alternates if one of the top 6 is unable to swim in the final. Except for events 81-100, any event with 6 or fewer entries will be swum only during the finals.
7. Clubs must designate one person to pick up awards.
ENTRIES: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ON THE FORM BELOW (or a reasonable facsimile.)
One form per swimmer. -- Please supply all requested information.
SWIMMERS & PARENTS: Please give all entry forms to your club's meet coordinator no later than July 16, 2002. Meet Coordinators: Please see separate instructions for submission of entries for processing.
ENTRY FEES: $2.00 for each individual event. Swimmers should pay their own club's meet coordinator. Council will bill the clubs after the meet.
AWARDS: Medals for 1st through 6th, ribbons for 7th through 24th. (7th – 12th are “B” 1-6, 13th – 18th are “C” 1-6 and 19th – 24th are “D” 1-6)

FACILITIES: Parking is available in the pool parking lot and along China Grade Loop. Please keep driveways clear and observe regulations of the day. Food – A snack bar will be in operation for the duration of the meet.
DIRECTIONS TO THE POOL: The pool is just east of McCray St. between Galaxy Ave. and China Grade Loop in Oildale. It is adjacent to N.O.R. Recreation headquarters. Take Galaxy EAST from McCray to get to the pool parking lots. Taking Galaxy West from Stockton only gets the North High parking lots.

The finals for events 1-80 will be held approx. 30 minutes after the conclusion of event 100.
Attention all Kern Swim Council coaches and meet entry coordinators:
South Valley Swim Club will be handling the computer operation for the Kern County Championships Swim Meet on July 27th. This meet will be cardless for all age groups and no bullpen will be used. A master check-in will be used.

Please submit entries by July 17 using the consolidated entry form included with the meet fact sheet. Please include the swimmer's best times achieved.
Teams may also submit entries using a Hy-Tek disk. If entries are made using this option, please include a hard copy of all entries with the disk.
Additionally, SVSC is coordinating the meet officiating this year. Teams will be contacted in the next few days by Sam Duran, who will be requesting names and contact information of each team's officials in order to begin scheduling volunteers for prelims and finals. Sam will have more information forthcoming on that subject.
