INFORMATION ON FLOOD [PHASE-II]

Cause of floods -

2nd Phase : Dt.27.07.2014

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over the same region at 0830 hourst IST, the 27th July 2014.

Due to heavy rain for two days i.e. 27th to 30th July, Koraput, Baragarh, Kandhamal, Bolangir & Boudh district encountered flash flood and landslide.

INFORMATION ON DISTRICTS

(1) KORAPUT DISTRICT

v  No. of Blocks affected – 1

v  No. of houses damaged – 235

v  No. of livestock casualty – 2 (cows)

·  4 bridges damaged due to heavy rain

·  The approach road of Mundiguda bridge washed away and 14 Panchayats have been cut off from the Block headquarters.

·  Landslide at Dayanidhiguda in Koraput block

·  Villages marooned from 27th night –

o  Semiaguda village of Semiaguda Gram Panchayats

o  Gujuniguda and Jodaoda village of Gujniguda Gram Panchayat and

o  Benagaon village of Bengaon Gram Panchayat

ü  Evacuation arrangement made

ü  Polythene, Clothes & Blankets distributed

ü  Distribution of essential commodities on progress

ü  The temporary road work is going on

(2) BARAGARH DISTRICT

v  No. of Blocks affected – 4 (Balangir, Puintala, Agalpur & Deogaon)

v  Human Casualty – 2 nos.

(1-due to wall collapse, Premalata Sahoo of Khaparakhol)

(1-due to drowning, Mithyalal Sendria of Padmapur)

v  No. of Houses Damaged – 178 (fully-14, Partially-164)

(3) KANDHAMAL DISTRICT

·  No. of Blocks affected – 1 (Khajuripada)

·  No. of Houses damaged – 10 (partially)

(4) BOLANGIR DISTRICT

v  No. of Blocks affected – 6 (Padampur, Sohela, Gaisilet, Paikamal, Bijpur, Jharbandh )

v  Human Casualty – 1 due to drowning (Alok Bhue of Bhatli)

·  Padmapur-Sohela road disconnected, 2-NH-6 was cut off and road communication disconnected between Shohella and Bargarh

(5) BOUDH DISTRICT

v  No. of Blocks affected – 3 (Boudh, Kantamal and Harabhanga)

v  No. of Villages affected – 194

v  No. of live stock casualty - 36

v  No. of Population affected – 6000

v  Area affected in ha. – 368

v  No. of Houses damaged – 1334 (fully-141, partially-1193)

·  5 L.I. points, 19 MIPs and 28 nos. of irrigation check dams of Water Resources Department have been severely damaged in flash flood due to heavy rainfall. Specially Birigarh and Amthapada MIPs of Boudh Block, Laxmanpur MIP of Harabhanga Block have been severely damaged, 13 nos. roads (29 kms), 13 breaches (545 mtrs.), 14 nos. of culverts of RD department, one educational institution of Purunakatak High School of Education Department severely damaged in flash flood due to heavy rainfall.

ü  180 persons evacuated, accommodated in 3 relief camps

(6) NAYAGARH DISTRICT

v  One village (Manipur) under Fategarh G.P. of Bhapur Tahashil has been marooned by rain / back water of river Kaligiri

ü  One country boat (big size) has been deployed to village Manipur.
