Project Description/Mission
Students will study the animal kingdom according to the geographical areas presented in our reading series. They will read literature such as “My River”, “Listen to the Desert”, and “Swimmy” and learn about the animals native to these areas. As a culminating activity, children will create a virtual zoo by making posters and dioramas depicting these animals in their natural environments.

What are the basic needs of animals?

How do animals relate to their environment?

TASK:
In this task, you are seeking an answer to the question what are the basic needs of animals. You are to act as a team member and help design an exhibit for the zoo. Your perspective is to research the needs of animals, how they move and where they are from. You are expected to plan (design) an animal habitat. You are then expected to make a diorama and poster display. You will know you have successfully finished when the head zookeepers accept your project. Challenges you may encounter are discovering the special needs of the animals. Resources you can depend on are the Internet and library. You will need some supplies to create your dioramas.

Other Requirements:
· Any graphics you use should be saved separately in your Curriculum folder
· Must contain at least one quiz.
· Must contain either a web page, a Power Point presentation or an Excel spreadsheet/graph.
