Standard 3: Understands and applies properties of geometry.

Benchmark 1: Identifies similarities and differences between simple geometric shapes

Critical Objectives:

2.3.1.1.  Uses attributes to describe plane and solid shapes (ITBS)*

2.3.1.2.  Knows the attributes of common solid shapes

2.3.1.3.  Knows how to determine the number of sides, faces, and vertices of solids

2.3.1.4.  Identifies and compares plane shapes and solid shapes including faces, edges, and vertices (ITBS)

2.3.1.5.  Predicts the result of taking apart and putting together shapes (ITBS)

2.3.1.6.  Identifies solid figures (i.e. cube, sphere, solid, rectangle solid, cone, cylinder)

2.3.1.7.  Identifies faces of solid figures as basic geometrical shapes

2.3.1.8.  Names corners, edges, and faces of solid figures

2.3.1.9.  Draws plane figures from solids


Standard 3: Understands and applies properties of geometry.

Benchmark 2: Uses coordinate geometry to describe relationships

Critical Objectives:

2.3.2.1.  Describes direction and distance on the coordinate plane

2.3.2.2.  Understands two numbers are needed for naming location on a grid

2.3.2.3.  Uses two numbers to locate a point on a coordinate grid

2.3.2.4.  Identifies coordinate pairs for a point on a coordinate grid
