About the Instructor

Linda Daniel, M.A., CCC/Sp.Path, is a speech and language specialist trained and certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology to offer the Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL) Program.

About PAR

The Mission of PAR is to evaluate expressive language skills and provide appropriate training for adults who speak English as a second language to increase proficiency of English language pronunciation and improve communication skills.

Programs: Accent Reduction

Our Programs begin with an initial interview and evaluation. The recorded evaluation is transcribed and analyzed to determine specific needs. Weekly home assignments are generated as a result of the initial evaluation. In providing the most appropriate and useful training, Ms. Daniel incorporates specific vocabulary and terminology pertinent to the client, tailoring the programs to each clients individual needs.

The weekly classes incorporate serialized practice materials targeted towards the individual's needs. Clients are encouraged to list and practice specific words and presentations pertaining to communication demands for work or home. One of the following Programs may be selected according to the level of need:

The 7 Week Private Tutoring Program is for the individual with a mild accent. This Program includes the initial evaluation and 7 (seven) one-hour tutoring sessions.

The 7 Week Small Group Program has a maximum of 4 clients. Following the individual evaluation, the group meets for 7 (seven) two-hour tutoring sessions.

The 13-Week Private Tutoring Program is for the individual with a moderate to strong accent. This Program includes the initial evaluation and 13 (thirteen) one-hour sessions.

The 13-Week Small Group Program has a maximum of 4 clients. Following the individual evaluation, the group meets for 13 (thirteen) two-hour sessions.

Elocution: Some common issues that Elocution can help with:

• / Softening of regional accents
• / Presentation skills
• / A lack of confidence when speaking
• / Mumbling & lack of clarity
• / Lack of tone in the voice
• / Interview technique
• / Engaging the listener

Our elocution classes encompass two main aspects of vocal work for English speakers. Softening a regional accent, and increasing confidence as a communicator, in interviews, presentations, or daily life.

The United Kingdom has many regional dialects, all of which are wonderful and full of flavour…

But even though we love them, sometimes a regional accent can feel like it’s getting in the way, either by leading to misunderstanding or even discrimination. For this reason, British people can feel self conscious about an accent, or simply want the tools to change it in order to increase potential opportunities.

Almost everyone has to communicate daily in their lives, either at work or with friends or relatives, and yet so many people feel less confident than they would like as communicators.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the tools and knowledge to use your voice and words more effectively? Our elocution courses do just that.

A testimonial from an Englishman:

“Emma has certainly helped me feel more confident and comfortable in my role as a wealth adviser in the world of the high and ultra-high net worths. I’m amazed at how much more influence words seem to have when delivered correctly. The lessons were efficient, well structured and I genuinely feel I made progress at each one. I don’t speak RP all the time but it is a great tool to have in the bag.”
