SACRED HEART COUNCIL #6525

TROY, MISSOURI

THE GRAND KNIGHT’S COLUMN:

Brother Knights:

I know this month’s newsletter is late, if someone would like to take it over that would be Great!!! If you received a second notice for dues and had already paid them, Please disregard and Forgive us for the confusion.

Our next meeting will be Thursday February 15, 2018. Dinner, 6 P.M. Rosary to follow (Wives & Families are invited).

Please pray for Brother Larry Fague, his wife Carol , Dottie Hibbeler (Jim), Rose Dickherber (Jeff), Brother Todd Mack,

Brother Harvey Kessler, Brother Rob & Sharon Kroupa & Family, Brother Jeff Eisenbath & Family.

Please keep in your prayers the family of Brother Ron Schieffer who passed away December 25th and the Family of Brother Bobby Kroupa who passed away December 28th.

White House Retreat, we had 23 members attend.

Lenten Fish Fries begin Friday February 16th through Friday March 23rd.

FISH FRIES:
BeginningFeb. 16th. Please everyone check and see when your crew is scheduled. Anyone who can commit to something specific every week, if you are not already, please contact me (Randy Leitman 528-8962). I have a few things such as thawing, rinsing, & cutting fish, taking tickets, tending bar, suppling the food line, where I could use someone to not only do the job, but oversee it if there is enough help to keep things running smoothly and consistent each week.
Another thing, THERE CAN NOT BE ANY IDLE STANDING, TALKING, VISITING IN THE PATHWAYS, OR IN THE KITCHEN. I do my best to make this as stress free, fun, and friendly as possible, but with the potential for 900 meals per night, the work areas need to be as open as possible for carrying roasters, and trays and serving. So, please, if you are not actively in the mix, doing something, please stay out of the kitchen, and out of the pathways. THE NEW FRY HOUSE SHOULD BE READY. This may create a different result than we are used to. Hopefully for the good. But with all things new, there are sometimes some kinks. Jerry and I are planning for larger crowds, and trying to come up with ideas to handle the larger volume within the space we have, and we need to make the best use we can of all the space available, and we don't see any extra space for idleness, or mistakes. It will have to be a well-oiled machine.

FISH FRIES:Please, everyone pay close attention to the schedule. Fish Fries, and Easter come early this year, with our first Fish Fry on Friday, February 16th. We serve from4:30 to 7:00 pm.However, the prep work is what takes the time. We usually are filling SHUT-IN meals around4:00pm.Fish rinsing and breading starts around2:00-2:30.

SCHEDULED WORKERS ARE ASKED TO BRING DESSERT ITEMS….THIS IS SOMEHTING ELSE THAT ANYONE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO MORE OFTEN AS WELL.Or if you want to contribute, but are unable physically, we can sure use desserts.

Everyone is welcome to help every week, besides what the crew schedule is. We have most of our key areas supervised by someone every week, doing the same thing, and that has helped tremendously in keeping our food quality, and serving ability consistent, and these guys could use some back-up. Last year we had some record numbers, and we could see that again. We had very good, and plenty of help every week last year, THANK YOU ALL for that. Hope to see that again this year. The one area that struggled was enough help staying around after7:00pm.(The end of serving time). This is the toughest part of the night, doing all the dishes, sweeping and cleaning the dining room. If enough helps remains after serving, we can usually knock this out by or before8:00.

THANKS AGAIN. Let’s brace for another good year.

MATTHEW CHAPTER 7:

7:1"JUDGE not, that you may not be judged,
7:2For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.
7:3why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye?
7:4Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye?
7:5Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

“Oh God, May You truly Bless us and extend our boundaries, May your hand be with us and make us free of misfortune, without pain!”

Christ Peace be with you,

A Blessed 2018 to You and Yours.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY’S COLUMN:

The Council roster remains the same as it did last month. There are 73 Associate, 86 Insurance and 16 Inactive member for a total of 175 members. There are 13 Honorary, 27 Honorary Life, 2 Disable and 1 Active Military members. Charles Brockman advanced from 1st to 3rd Degree on Sunday January 28 at the Flint Hill Council.

Current paid membership for 2018 at the end of January stands at 86 plus. Eighty Six have had membership cards forward but some have paid there dues to a council officer who has not passed the details along to me as yet.

Response to the NOTICE relating to added e-mail addresses by Supreme has been sparse. One phone call, four or so e-mails and a half dozen notes included with dues payments have been received. There have been five request to remove e-mail address two requesting there e-mail addresses be added and perhaps a half dozen indicating that they wished for their e-mail address to remain. As a result I have decided not to write a letter to Supreme objecting to there action due to the fact that there action seems to have been a plus overall for the Council.

Knights of Columbus Monthly Member Quiz – Feb. 2018

Last months newsletter went out by e-mail at 10 PM and the first response/answer to the quiz was received about seven hours latter. It was the one and only answer received.

The correct answer was E none of the above, if the position held was an elective position then the individual having completed the term would be a Past Grand Knight or Inside Guard or State Deputy or Faithful Comptroller for examples where as if the position completed was an appointed position then the individual having completed the term would be a Former Youth Director or Chaplin or Financial Secretary or District Deputy.

The answer received from Chad Simpson was A past, correct if elected but not if appointed. Thanks Chad for your participation, I will be forwarding you a emblem of the Order.

Now for the February quiz question. In the United States of America we have States (Missouri or Arizona) and Territories (Puerto Rico or Guam) while in Canada there are Providences (Quebec or Nova Scotia) and Territories (Yukon or Northwest) for examples. What single term is used by Supreme Council to identify States, Territories, Providences, etc. for Countries around the where in the Order is established.

DISTRICT DEPUTY COLUMN:

This months column will be brief in that being here in the Arizona desert and with limited internet access life is relaxed and news travels at a turtles pace.

Did you know that as of December 2017 there were over 43,000 Knights on council rosters in Missouri. There is an estimated 80,000 former Knights, who in the past choose to join the Order but then left for any number of reasons. From our Council alone there are 18 former members whose names currently appear on the roster who are a part of the 80,000. These are a resource of Catholic men already knowledgeable of the Knights of Columbus and some perhaps just waiting to be reinvited to active membership.

These 80,000 represents nearly double the current 43,000 Knights in Missouri a ready resource to council growth.

FIELD AGENTS COLUMN:

Our Guarantees Set Us Apart

Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can – guarantees. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries, tax free and probate free, should something happen to you. That’s peace of mind, and that’s what we offer with every product in our portfolio.

We guarantee the cash value in your whole life policies will be there.

We guarantee the rates on your term insurance.

We guarantee the rate and your principal in our retirement annuities.

On top of those product guarantees, I guarantee that I will offer professional, high-quality service that you would expect from our organization.

Our Order is among the highest rated life insurers in North America. AM Best has rated the Knights of Columbus “A++, Superior” for over 40 consecutive years. It’s a testament to our track record for excellence and security.

I would suggest that a principal reason that we were able to achieve those accolades is because we remain steadfastly committed to the vision of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney by providing life insurance by brother Knights for brother Knights.

That commitment is an essential core value of the Knights of Columbus, and our core values permeate all levels of our organization. I pledge to serve my brother Knights, and their families, according to our Golden Rule: “In all my professional relationships, I pledge myself to the following rule of conduct: I shall, in light of all conditions surrounding those I serve, render that service which, under the same circumstances, I would apply to myself.” In other words, I'll give you the advice I would give my parents, my siblings or my children.

Let’s talk soon to discuss how our products can bring that peace of mind to you and your family.

In His service, Rob Kroupa:(636) 290-3770 ,

Field Agent #17098, Knights of Columbus
