Intermediate Pony Club Championships 2014 – Emma Manton & Bertie

The Intermediate Pony Club Dressage Championships were held on the 15th of August at Cholmondeley Castle.

When arriving at the Intermediate Championships it was a totally different feeling to the novice I have competed in for the last two years, everything was even more professional and it was down to business.

I felt nervous going into the test as the preparation hadn't been as smooth as it could have been in the training sessions before, but Bertie warmed up well and seemed to rise to the occasion.

When it was finally our time to enter the Arena the nerves went to another level but as soon as you go up the centre line you have got to leave them behind you.

Bertie's test felt really good and I was extremely pleased with how he went. So now was the next part of waiting for the results! I was over the moon to find out that I came 5th equal in my arena with 68.39% a creditable score at championship level. It was extremely close in the top 5, with 2nd place being 68.71%, just one mark off of my own test, and the winner slightly further ahead with an amazing 71.29%. The Pony Club Championships are such an amazing experience and I have been lucky enough to compete at both venues. I would recommend the Area to everybody in the pony club, as it provides amazing coaching and competitions for all ages. On behalf of everybody that was part of the area squad this year, I would like to thank Lucy Cox for such great organisation and scheduling all of our training sessions as well as attending our competitions to help coach, Chris and Annalise Johnson for their hard work and dedication to the area programme and coaching, and lastly Rebecca for all her hard work she puts in to make our Pony Club the best!
