Job Title: Community Fundraiser

Location: Hereford with travel to the surrounding areas

Rationale Concern Universal has set itself ambitious public fundraising targets, with an in-house face-to-face fundraising campaign providing the bedrock for this. With an established schools, community and events fundraising programme and team, there is now a need to increase capacity to maximize fundraising opportunities in these key areas.

Job Purpose This role will be focused on the regional community and will be working closely with the existing fundraising team.They willdevelop and implement with the Public Fundraising Manager a community fundraising strategy, to meet clearly defined and agreed income targets.

Responsibilities Identify regional, organizations, churches and individuals and cultivate relationships with them.

Support donors in the organization of their own fundraising events as individuals or through the forming of committees

Create an event/events with the events co-coordinator for community donors to support, and work with the major partnership team to secure support form regional businesses. Make full use of the available fundraising propositions such as virtual gifts to raise funds.

Duties

  • Donor cultivation:

Identifying warm and potential supporters for Concern Universal

Pro-active approaches to individuals, and organizations

Developing relationships with individual, organizations

  • Donor care, putting the donor at the heart of what we do:

Ensuring that these donors receive the support they need to successfully engage with Concern Universal, this may mean support with event planning, presentations to individuals or groups

Ensuring that thank yous for support are given at the right time and the right level

Giving donors/supporters the right level of information about Concern Universal

  • Administration:

Keeping all donor contacts up to date on the Fundraising Database (Donor Strategy)

Producing with the communications team any materials needed for working with the supporters

Reviewing progress on a regular basis

Person Specification

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills,
  • An ability to work without supervision, a self-starter, happy to work in a busy office environment as well as on own
  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work with committees
  • Ability to working effectively with community groups and volunteers
  • Ability towork to a budget
  • Target driven

  • Computer literate and proven administrative skills with real attention to detail

  • Flexible able to work some weekends and evenings as required.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in working within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Fundraising experience and a proven track record of success in community fundraising.
  • Experience of working with committees to run fundraising events, such as balls and concerts.
  • Knowledge and experience of a fundraising database.
  • Experience of relationship building with both internal and external stakeholders

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Grade 2 £17,530 - £25,750

25 days annual leave

Annual income target £80,000 (2013/2014)
