This course allows students to learn more about and focus on their own health and wellness as well as providing an opportunity to promote and encourage lifelong healthy active lifestyles.

COURSE EVALUATION

Outcomes are now assessed on an individual basis, using a 4 pointrubric. There will be 1 mark per outcome. There is not a ‘single’ final mark for the class.

1 APPROACHING – I am starting to understand some of this but I need help.

2 BEGINNING – I have a very basic understanding but I still make some mistakes

3 PROFICIENT – I fully understand this concept and can demonstrate/explain it

4 MASTERY – I fully understand this concept and can further apply/relate it to the world around me

Activities and Assessment

This is a ‘locally developed curriculum”. That means that we can design our activities

to meet the outcomes, while considering the resources and facilities we have access to.

After we have decided on the specific activities, we will determine the assessment for these

activities/outcomes.

Assignments must be handed in on the due date with marks earned for what is

completed.

Formative assessments are done on a regular basis, and are to be completely done

(100%) by the due date.

Summative assessments for the course may be reassessed and are listed on the

‘pink sheet’.

“students who do not complete the summative assessment pieces by the stated due date

will then follow the school intervention plan including use of the learning lab, scheduled

opportunities to learn at noon, parent/administration notification, etc.”

If the compulsory summative is incomplete, the student may complete the assessment

and hand in at least 10 days prior to the end of the semester for REASSESSMENT.

Exams that are missed will be written on the very next day that you are at school, at a time that is convenient for the teacher (noon hour).

Students are eligible for recommends when:

  • They have a 75% average
  • They have a combination of less than 10 lates and absences
  • They have upheld the expectations of the behavior matrix
