The Local 83 Executive and TOH Bargaining Unit Elections

To Be Held on October 26, 2016

September 7, 2016 “Call for Nominations”

Nominations close by noon October 5, 2016, please indicate in writing your intention to run for a position on the Local 83 Executive Committee,TOH Bargaining Unit Committees or as Unit Representative at The Ottawa Hospital Bargaining Unit.

Nomination forms for any of the elected positions must be signed by two “entitled” ONA Local 83 members and include their ONA ID number.

The nomination forms and resume forms may be obtained from the Local website the Local’s office manager or members of the Election Committee.

In signing the nomination form, each nominee submits their written consent that they will accept the position if elected as per the ONA constitution.

Please submit yourfully completed nomination forms and resume forms in person or by mail to the Local office byOctober 5, 2016 at 12 noon addressed to:

A complete list of candidates for any contested position will be posted by the Local Election Committee at least 10 days prior to the election date.

The list of candidates acclaimed and contested will be posted by October 12, 2016

You will be required to have your permanent ONA ID card, or, complete a membership form in order to be eligible to cast your vote on Election Day.

Scrutineers are required for the October 26, 2016 Local Elections -for the following shifts

0630-1430 and 1430-2230 or until the ballot count is completed at the Local Office. 3 members for each shift at the Civic and General. 2 members for each shift at HI. Riverside and off-site polls shift 0900 to 1730 - 2 members. Scrutineers will be paid as per Local policies. Ona Local 83 is a multi-bargaining Local which includes The Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Fertility Centre. The following positions are available for election.

ONA constitution indicates that the positions of Local Coordinator and Bargaining Unit President may be held by one person in multi-bargaining unit Locals

TOH Negotiation Committee Representatives– Local Contract:

  • 1 full-time and 1 part-time member each site – Civic, General, Heart Institute, Riverside

The Ottawa Hospital - Unit Representatives:

  • Lead Nurse Representative - one each for the Civic and General Sites
  • Unit Representatives - for each unit. Where there is more than one member of any unit nominated, a unit-specific election will be held. Units may have more than one Unit Representative at the discretion of the Local Executive Committee.
