RECENT EXPERIENCE:

Director of Radio & TV Technology for KUVN/KSTR-DT, KFZO, KFLC, KDXX, KESS and KNLO Dallas (Univision O&O) 5-04-3-18

Oversight of all studio and transmitter technical operations and maintenance for Univision Dallas. Maintain facility FCC compliance, assure proper operation, workflow and maintenance of Newsroom and Master Control systems. Responsible for generating studio and transmitter operating and capital budgets. Oversee all engineering department personnel scheduling and performance evaluations. Highlights include: Build out of the 19th floor office space for consolidation of radio and TV operations into one building. Redesigned newsroom for better staff collaboration as well as a modernized look for on-air use. Involved in design and wiring of new set for 5pm, 10pm and morning newscasts, including a complex, multiresolution Vizrt driven monitor wall. Remodeled all 19th floor office areas and restrooms. Project manager for 80 ton rooftop chiller installation on our 26 story building in downtown Dallas, which required an Ericson Sky Crain helicopter. Put 5 sub channels on the air (23-2 Bounce, 23-3 Escape, 23-4 LAFF, 49-2 Get-TV, 49-3 Grit). Orchestrated channel change and shutdown of analog transmitters in June, 2009. Installed 144x144 Utah SD/HD router, Euphonix digital audio board, replaced GVG Kalypso 4ME production SDI switcher with Sony 8000 HD production switcher, replaced all CRT monitors with Evertz MVP system, converted all ENG sites and trucks to digital. In my fourteen years I changed out two automation systems Harris to VCI and VCI back to Harris, operated as the spoke for the Houston Hub for ten years. Changed from Avid Newsroom system to Harris News solution. Involved in the recent change from Harris back to Avid editing systems. Familiar with Avid I-News newsroom solutions. Installation of complex multi-node Newsroom editing and on-air playback systems (Avid, Harris); Purchased LiveU LU500 for bonded cell ENG transmissions. Involved in VJ van design working with station VJ’s. Supervised installation of NSI Superquad ENG central receive systems. Constructed new audio room in the control room for new SSL-10 audio board. Completed multi-hop digital STL and TSL for KUVN/KSTR with fiber back-up. Responsible for TVRO satellite installations at transmitter sites. Responsible for yearly ENG safety training, “Lock-out – Tag-out”, chemical inventories and maintenance of all vehicles in fleet. Further experience includes Evertz Master Control, Linear Acoustic Aero audio processor with Dolby Digital encoding, Harmonic encoders, Harris Nexio servers, Evertz ORT and 2020 passport.

Director of Engineering - KZJL-TV Channel 61 Houston (Liberman Broadcasting) – 8-01 to 5-04

Responsible for management of the engineering department, including development of capital and expense budgets, video and audio systems design, oversight of new facilities construction and design, Master Control on-air operations, scheduling of engineering personnel, and performing employee evaluations. Served as Chief Operatorto assure FCC compliance. Involved with design and implementation of DTV transition at both studio and transmitter, and worked withbuilding owners, architects and contractors on new building project.

Chief Engineer - KTMD-TV Houston (Telemundo O&O) - 7-99 to 8-01

Hired in July ‘99 as Assistant Chief Engineer, promoted to Chief Engineer in July 2000.Responsible for all aspects of KTMD engineering operations including acquisition and maintenance of studio and transmitter technical equipment, news support, production, and master control operations. Served as Chief Operator to assure compliance with FCC rules.Experience also included capital planning, purchasing and system design.
