The theater has upgraded from 70mm film projection to stunning premium laser-illuminated digital projection system boasting full 4K resolution—nearly 9 million pixels on-screen—the first of its kind installed in an institutional theater. Images of unsurpassed size, clarity and impact, enhanced by a superb sound system, are projected onto a giant screen nearly three-and-a-half times brighter and with more vibrant colors than normal theaters. Devices for the visually impaired and personalized closed captioning for the hearing impaired will also be added.

The IMAX® Naval Aviation Memorial Theater is one of the largest IMAX® theaters in the world and has the largest screen in Florida. It took nearly two years to construct the theater. The screen is 10 times larger than a traditional cinema screen, and fills the whole field of peripheral vision. Made of a reflective and perforated vinyl, the screen is mounted taut over a scaffold frame containing 690 tons of structural steel and 1,990 cubic yards of concrete. The screen is 62 feet high and 82 feet wide with a frontal surface area of 5,084 square feet. The screen itself weighs over 600 pounds. The projector passes 70mm film at 24 frames per second over a 3-foot diameter rotor turning at 180 mph, projecting an image on the screen magnified 273 times the size of the film frame.<!--
