Dear Parents,
Copeland Elementary and Huffman Intermediate Schools will once again be participating in the UIL academic competition. UIL stands for University Interscholastic League. If you would like more information on the UIL Organization, please visit:
Copeland Elementary and Huffman Intermediate will be holding try-outs for each UIL event over the next few weeks. Due to the varying schedules of the coaches, try-out dates will vary from event to event as will practice schedules for each event. Tryouts and practices are held either before or after school hours. Bus transportation will NOT be provided for UIL try-outs or practices. You must provide transportation on these days. Students can try-out for more than one UIL event;however, they can only participate in one event, with the exception of writing. A student can participate in a writing event as well as another event. Listed below are the UIL events in which students at CES and HIS can try-out for. The events are listed according to grade level. Attached to this handout are descriptors of each UIL event as well as a tryout calendar for each grade level try-out date. UIL Coaches will inform students if they have made the UIL team and will communicate their practice schedules after UIL try-outs are over. There will be two rounds of cuts before the final teams are determined for competition. The UIL events are:
