Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you on Tuesday night. I do hope it was a productive evening for all of you. We are all partners in your child’s education, faith formation and social development. As educators, it is most gratifying to see our parents so positively involved in their children’s education. We hear and read so much these days about teaching children to be life-long learners. In addition to learning the basics, children today must develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and adapt to a constantly changing world. Together, we can help the children achieve these necessary skills. Developing skills, connections, habits, and a positive attitude toward lifelong learning are important not only for children—it benefits all of us!

ALUMNI: In our front lobby we have a beautiful board with pictures of our alumni and their child/children who presently attend St. Peter School. We would like to update this board. If you are an alumni and your child is new to St. Peter School, please send in a picture (non returnable) of you and your child/children. If your picture is already on the board, but you would like to send a more recent picture please do so. Also, when you visit the school please take a stroll down the hallway outside my office and look at the 46 years of graduation pictures. Sister Angelus looks the same in each one. She never changes!

SAFE ENVIRONMENT VIDEO VIEWINGS: The Safe Environment Video will be shown two more times: Tuesday, September 27th at 5:30 pm and Sunday, October 2nd at 12:00 PM in the Library. Please enter through the kitchen door.

SCHOOL YARD PROTOCOL: We appreciate the help our parents give us by remaining in the schoolyard in the morning. The more eyes the better! However, I would ask that parents not confer with teachers after the bell rings. It is important that the children are in the building and ready to pray by 8:55 AM. If you need to speak to a teacher, please call the office and make an appointment. Thank you for your cooperation.

PARISH MINISTRY FAIR: The Parish Ministry Fair takes place this weekend, September 24th and 25th. The 4 parents who volunteered should have been notified. A schedule was sent home with your child on Monday. If you did not get it, please let me know. Thank you for representing St. Peter School at the Ministry Fair.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS: This annual blessing will take place in the St. Peter Schoolyard on October 1st at noon. Father Gagne will bless your “confined” animals: dogs (on leashes), cats, birds, hamsters, etc. in honor of St. Francis of Assisi whose feast day is Tuesday, October 4th.

CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS: The first Cross Country meet took place last Wednesday, September 14th, at Roger Williams Park. Both boys’ and girls’ teams finished well with all students finishing under 24 minutes.

Top Boys: Billy Roberge placed 5th

Dean Russo placed 6th

Peter Cavanagh placed 8th

Jarod Sickinger placed 16th

Dylan Bracken placed 19th

Kanoa Cruz placed 27th

Jay Andrade placed 28th

Top Girls: Stephanie Langevin placed 19th

Nicole Jones placed 35th

The children did a wonderful job for having had only two practices before this meet!

There was another Cross Country meet on Wednesday, September 21st. Results will be posted in next week’s newsletter.
