Do Quilters Need Help Getting Organized?

Lori Firsdon, founder of Forte Organizers in Dayton and a lifelong organizing advocate will be the speaker for the March 8 guild meeting.

Lori founded the company in 2006, utilizing the skills she cultivated early on. She has balanced being a busy entrepreneur with raising five children. Now, as the owner of Forte Organizers, Lori continues to teach and guide both business and personal clients on organizational skills.

Forte Organizers works with individuals and families at home, as well as business people at work and in group settings. With one-on-one consultations, she is able to address the root of the disorganization. Business clients have unique challenges to their time and space but the organizational skills are the same.

Lori is a regular Dayton Daily News columnist and has been featured on national television shows focused on organizing, including on A&E Television’s popular Hoarders. Besides being an entrepreneur, she is the mother of five children, which gives her valuable insight on what organizational challenges most people face in trying to balance home and work life.

She shares her practical solutions, which can be immediately implemented and motivates listeners to think differently about their ‘stuff’ and encourages them to reclaim the time they have lost to being disorganized.

A Note from the President…

Another retreat come and gone. It was a good one and I was pleased to find out that we had 20 newbies. I remember when I was a newbie - it was exciting.

I want to thank all those involved with the retreat this year, there is much that goes on behind the scenes. You did a great job and I believe everyone had a great time.

See you in March, spring is right around the corner.

NOTE: Meetings are cancelled if the Fairborn Senior Center is closed.

Quilts of Valor Blocks Available for Assembly

Our Quilts of Valor project has been busy during the winter months! A number of quilters have taken block and pillowcase kits at the retreat to piece. Plus there were over 80 log cabin blocks made at the retreat for QOV! Thank you to Mary Bergseth and her helpers who organized all of the kits for the paper pieced project! These blocks will be used in future QOVs.

At the March meeting, more block kits will be available for individuals (or groups) to piece into tops. The fabric bins will also be there for sashings, borders and/or alternate blocks. There is no time frame for when these need to be completed! Just be sure to let me know that you have taken a kit!

Another opportunity to help QOV is to participate in our next Sew-In - Thursday, April 7 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at The Little Shop of Stitches in Miamisburg. Sign-up sheet will be at the QOV table at the March meeting. Also, we will have a QOV booth at our quilt show in May. If you can help man the booth (talking to people and answering questions), a sign-up sheet will also be at the QOV table (separate from the Quilt Show sign-ups). If there are any questions, please e-mail me at . Thank you for everything you all do to support QOV!

Happy Quilting!
