LOEWS HOTELS NAMED A 2010 FINALIST FOR PRESTIGIOUS
U.S. CHAMBER AWARD HONORING CORPORATE CARING
NEW YORK (September 16, 2010) – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center named Loews Hotels as a finalist for a 2010 Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of U.S. Community Service. The Corporate Citizenship Awards have been presented every year since 2000 and are the nation’s premier recognition for companies that care.
For more than 20 years, Loews Hotels has practiced social responsibility through its Good Neighbor Policy, the hospitality industry’s first comprehensive community outreach program. Continuing to evolve each year, the Good Neighbor Policy addresses various issues of social concern and supports charities on a corporate level as well as locally through individual Loews Hotel property events and fundraisers.
Loews Hotels was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center for its work with the Modest Needs Foundation, a web based charity with a critical mission to stop the cycle of poverty before it starts for low-income workers. As part of this support, each Loews Hotel created a Good Neighbor Council of cross-departmental employee volunteers, tasked with the development of fundraising programs. In two years, more than $525,000 was raised, providing assistance for hundreds of individuals in need. This year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Good Neighbor Policy, Loews Hotels has partnered with DonorsChoose.org, a web based charity that is dedicated to helping public schools in need.
“We understand our responsibility to the communities where we do business and making the commitment to support our neighbors has been a long-standing tradition of Loews Hotels," said Jonathan Tisch, Chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels. “We are proud that twenty years later our Good Neighbor Policy is continuing to make a difference and are thrilled to be recognized for the program’s many accomplishments."
