PENINSULA TRACK & FIELD CARNIVAL 2017 INFORMATION BULLETIN

  1. Entries close at 4.00pm on Monday 31 July 2017
  2. Late entries will not be accepted.
  3. Meet Manager Nomination instructions will accompany nomination file. You will be sent two files – 1 to be used for team manager lite and the other to be used with meet manager (if you have it). Instructions will be forwarded with these files.

NB: the files cannot be opened unless you open them in Team Manager Lite or Meet Manager

  1. Districts will be required to supply 4 officials each day to assist in the running of the carnival. This will be made up with 3 event officials and 1 team manager.
  2. Competitors will be permitted to compete in their own age group only; e.g. a ten-year-old cannot compete in an eleven-year-old event.
  3. Ages are calculated according to year of birth:

10 years born 2007 / 13 years born 2004 / 16 years born 2001
11 years born 2006 / 14 years born 2003 / 17 years born 2000
12 years born 2005 / 15 years born 2002 / 18 years born 1999
  1. All competitors must wear and compete in the colours of their district (if no district colours then school uniform must be worn)

8. Conditions for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities (Para Athletes) need to compete at the regional championships and will compete in multi-disability, multi age events. They need to compete at the Peninsula Championships to be eligible for the Peninsula Track n Field team. Para Athletes will also need to provide a copy of their classification with their paperwork.

NOMINATIONS PER EVENT

  1. The maximum number of entries allowed per District will be –

a)All track events – 3 per event

b)Except 10-12yrs 800m & 1500M – 2 per event

c)All Field events - 2 per event for 10-12yrs and 3 per event for 13-19yrs.

Nominations will only be accepted in the format asked. Please contact Jo very early on if you expect to experience troubles with this.

COMPETITION RULES

  1. In the event of a competitor competing in a track event and a field event at the same time, the athlete will inform the officials at the field event and go to the track event. At the completion of the track event they shall return IMMEDIATELY to the field event.
  2. Entries will only be accepted from Districts.
  3. Districts will be required to officiate their nominated event during the days. District Officials names are to be supplied on the district nomination sheet by the nomination due date.
  4. Para Athletes are permitted to be accompanied by an adult during competition. This person will be identified by the wearing of a sports bib.

It is the responsibility of each districts team management to be aware of any clashes that athletes may have and to inform the event officials

TRACK EVENTS

  1. The use of spiked running shoes will be permitted however spikes must not be used for shot put and discus.
  2. False Starts – the second false start per athlete may result in disqualification.
  3. Although spiked running shoes are allowed, they must only be worn just prior to and during the event. Immediately the event is finished, competitors must remain in their lane, REMOVE THEIR RUNNING SHOES and await further instructions from the Chief Judge or Referee.
  4. RUNNING SPIKES FOR SYNTHETIC TRACKS - Up to 7mm spikes may be used in Running Shoes. Regulation starting blocks will be supplied.
  5. Because of the risk of injury to competitors’ feet, it is strongly recommended that shoes be worn when running on the synthetic track. If shoes are not worn, it is recommended that feet be taped as outlined on page 13. Athletes must bring their own tape if they wish the sports trainer to tape their feet.

  1. For all sprints, competitors, after completing their race, must remain in their lane until told to move by the Judges. In middle distance events, competitors must remain in the order placed by the Chief Judge or Referee until they are told to move by the Referee. Then they must leave the Field of Play unless they are placegetters or are participating in another event.
  2. Placegetters in all finals will be presented their ribbons at their event. Para Athletes will be called to collect their ribbons once the results have been finalised.

FIELD EVENTS

In the event of a tie AFTER the appropriate count back rules have been applied, no jump/throw off will be conducted to separate ribbons places. Note that a jump/throw off may be required for equal seconds to help with selection to the Peninsula Team.

  1. Where a competitor has a clash of field event with a track event, he/she will be permitted to complete the field event, where possible, taking trials out of order if necessary. This is conditional on the IMMEDIATE RETURN of the athlete to the field event.District Team Officials are requested to inform the field event officials of any competitor at a track event. Specific instructions shall be provided by the Championship Convenor at the Pre-carnival Meeting.
  1. The maximum number of entries allowed per District will be 2 per event for 10-12yrs and 3 per event for 13-19yrs.
  2. The use of spiked running shoes will only be permitted in Triple Jump, Long Jump and High Jump (7mm maximum).
  3. Shoes must be worn by all competitors in Shot Put and Discus and Javelin.
  4. Competitors in Shot Put, Discus and Long Jump events will each receive three qualifying attempts.

District Managers are expected to be aware of the first three rise heights when selecting athletes for these events.

  1. Shot Put
    The following shot put weights will apply:

Boys - 10 and 11 years – 2 kg 14 and 15 years – 4 kg
12 and 13 years – 3 kg 16 and 17 years – 5 kg

Girls - 10 and 11 years – 2 kg
12 -17 years – 3 kg

  1. Discus

The following discus weights will apply:

10 years500 g13 – 15 yrs1kg

12 years750 g18-19yrs1kg – girls 1.75kg – boys

  1. Javelin

The following javelin weights will apply:

Boys – 13 years – 600g18 – 19 years – 800g

14 - 17 years – 500g

  1. Placegetters will be presented with their ribbons for their events.

Note: The Championship Convenor reserves the right to stop any field events at any time if the event is seriously interrupting the program. The event will then be concluded when possible.

ADDITIONAL COMPETITORS

ANY INQUIRIES AND REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL COMPETITORS NEED TO BE MADE TO JO BUTLAND DIRECTLY.

  1. Inclusion on medical grounds can only be claimed where the child was not able to compete at the District Carnival because of the condition.
  2. Photo finish “dead heats” may be accepted as grounds for an additional competitor, providing lanes are available.
  3. The competitor’s past performance must be of sufficient quality to warrant inclusion.
  4. All requests are subject to lane availability.
