b) How far is it from point A to point D in Figure A?

c) How far is it from point A to point C in Figure A?

2) For the following questions you may wish to refer to Figure B.

a) 40 mm = cmb) 4 m = cm

c) 0.2 km = mmd) 3.22 m = cm

3) Figure C:Figure D:

a) What is the perimeter of Figure C?

b) What is the perimeter of Figure D?

d) What is the surface area of Figure D?

4)Figure F:

a) What is the surface area of Figure F?

b) What is the volume of Figure F?

5)Order of operations

6) Calculate the gross pay for the following employees (be sure to show all your work below):

*note: anytime an employee works more than 40 hours a week all extra hours are considered overtime. Overtime pay is 1.5 times the employee’s normal rate of pay.

1) Convert the following percentages into decimals.

a) 47% = b) 87% = c) 5% =

2) Percent raises…(remember the formula for finding a new salary)

salary * raise = increase ors * r = i

salary + increase = new salaryors + i = x

a) Helga makes $8.50 per hour. She got a 6% raise this week. How much is her new salary? [3 marks]

b) Nadia makes $380.00 per week. Her boss offered her a 5.5% raise. How much is Nadia’s new weekly salary? [3 marks]

PART III – Volume

1) Bob is employed at a shoe warehouse. His job is to pack crates of shoes to ship to stores. Bob has 1,000 pairs of shoes to pack for shipping to a store. Each shoe box (1 box per pair) measures 36 cm long, 20 cm wide, and 17 cm tall. Bob is packing these shoe boxes into crates that measure 1m long, 1m wide, and 1m tall.

a) How many pairs of shoes can Bob fit into each crate?

b) How many crates will Bob need to pack all 1,000 pairs of shoes?

PART IV – Scale

1) The rectangle shown here is a scale drawing of the 4cm

top of a desk.

a )If the scale of this drawing is 1:20 then how

long is the actual desk?

b) Use a ruler to measure the width of the scale drawing. If the scale is 1:20 then how wide is the actual disk?

2) On the semester final there will be an object at the front of the classroom. You will need to measure the dimensions of the object and then draw a scale representation of the object. Be sure you are able to do this.

*You recently had a quiz on fractions, purchases and spreadsheets. This material will be on the semester final. Be sure to pay close attention when we correct the quiz in class.

*The best way to study for the final is to study this review, as well as all the quizzes from the year. If you find you don’t remember how to do something in this review or on one of the quizzes then be sure to ask for extra help.
