TRADITIONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
SEPTEMBER 2017 NEWSLETTER
From Your Administrative Team – September 2017
Welcome back to a new school year. What a beautiful September we have been experiencing thus far. That coupled with an excellent start to a new school year in a brand new school has everyone excited for the year ahead at Traditions Elementary School.
We want to thank everyone that was able to make it out to our Open House / Meet the Teacher BBQ last week. It was so much fun having our hallways, classrooms and playground full of families and excited children. We also want to take this opportunity to thank our School Community Council members for hosting the BBQ by our new playground. It was awesome!!
While we are still working hard to get all of the small details of the new school’s operation figured out, everything is coming together great and we should have all of the “kinks” ironed out soon. That said, it has been great to see all of our students fill and use all of the classrooms and many other unique learning spaces in the school.
A couple of things that we could use all of our parents’ assistance with is the traffic in front of the school. We do have a drop off location on the school side of the street in front of the school at the end of the bus lane. This is intended for those parents who are just stopping momentarily to drop their child off at school without getting out of the vehicle themselves. We would encourage parents to use this drop off location so that children are not having to navigate crossing the street in front of the school. We would also ask parents not to make a U-turn in front of the school but rather go to the end of the block and use the turnabout just past Holy Trinity School. We are working with the City of Warman to make the street in front of the school and the trip to and from school as safe as possible.
We want to inform all parents that we will be having our Grand Opening for the entire building (both schools and the child care centre) on Monday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m. in the Big Gym. We are expecting several special guests along with all of our students but also want to extend an invitation to any parents that want to attend. It is going to be an exciting day.
Have a great September.
Your Administrative Team,
Scott Dyck

We are pleased to introduce you to our Vice Principal: Danielle Olson
Dear TES Students and Families,
Every new school year is, in many ways a new beginning for each of us as we, the staff, students, parents and school community come together to share in our learning, experiences, and celebrations. What a wonderful gift!!
I have had the pleasure of working within Prairie Spirit School Division for the past 14 years as a teacher and school-based administrator and I am excited to now become a part of the Warman school community as Vice Principal of TES. I feel great excitement and honour to be a part of this school family and to get to be a part of your learning lives each and every day!!
I consider each day a new opportunity to grow, to learn more from one another, and to connect. I look forward to getting to know everyone (although for a while, I will need many reminders with names?) so please, come and introduce yourself to me so that we can work together , making TES wonderful for our students, staff and families.
Again, I am so excited to get started this fall as we open our new school. I look forward to many thought-filled conversation, innovative opportunities, sharing and creating together!!
Go Titans!!! We Can Do Anything!!
Yours in learning,
Danielle Olson

Meet Mrs. Kelly Leidl
I am so glad to be at TES this year. My name is Mrs. Leidl and I am teaching First Grade alongside two other amazing First Grade Teachers this year. This will be my 9th year teaching. My husband’s name is Chris and we have two children named Brayden – 4, and Avery, who is 2. We also have a dog named Zoe. I am looking forward to laughing and learning alongside my students this year.
Meet Mrs. Amanda Stratton
My name is Mrs. Stratton and I am so excited to be joining Traditions on the grade one team! I live in Warman with my husband, Bryan and our two boys, Brinley, age 6 and Lincoln, age 2, and our dog, Rory. I grew up in Ontario and have lived in Alberta and now here. I love to read and play games with my family. I am so happy that it is September, because fall is my favourite time of year. What I am most excited about for this school year is to see my grade one’s learn to read!
On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 1:15, students in Grade 1 - 4 at our school will be taking part in the annual Terry Fox School Run.
Canada’s 150th anniversary year offers us the opportunity to celebrate our country and Terry at the same time this September! Students will have the opportunity to discuss the heroic efforts of Terry over the next few weeks and raise much needed funds for cancer research. Through their participation in the annual School Run, we hope that our students will view themselves as positive agents of change giving the best of themselves to Canada, just like Terry did.
Meet Mrs. Jeralyn Tebay
My name is Jeralyn Tebay and I am thrilled to be a part of the staff at Traditions Elementary. We are so lucky to be part of this new school. I have taught in Warman for the last 14 years. I have taught grade 3, Kindergarten and now my favorite of all- grade 2. I also live in Warman with my husband and 2 daughters; Laura, who is 19 and attends the U of S, and Jillian, who is 17 and in grade 12 at WHS. Warman is a fabulous place to live and raise a family. I had a wonderful summer camping with my husband and I started running and am excited to head to Waskesiu later this month to compete in my first 5K. I am looking forward to getting to know my new group of students and watching them grow and learn this year in 2T.
Grade 2T is awesome! We have had a very busy and exciting start to the school year in this gorgeous new space! There are 21 fabulous children in our class and we are lucky to have a fourth year intern, Kallie Nadeau from the U of S learning with us until Christmas time. Mrs. Nicholson is also helping in our room. Our school year is going to start off with us learning about Solids, Liquids and Gases in Science. In Math we begin with patterns. We are also going to be reading a book about Frog and Toad in our Reading Workshop time. Our first unit in Health is Respect, what a wonderful way to start the school year and set the tone in our room. This year every day we are doing to add a memory to our “Smile Jar”, what a great reminder of all our fun times this will be for us at the end of the year!
We also have a class bog- follow along on our adventures at
Even though we have only had a few days of school, we know that this year in 2T is going to be the best!
Welcome Back to School
