Reports to:Director of Information Technology Services

  1. POSITION SUMMARY: The Network Administrator will work under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) in the management of all communications and local and wide area networking at the college. The Network Administrator will supervise the activities of ITS personnel as required along with providing training, technical assistance, consulting and other related services.
  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  2. Responsible for planning and maintaining the security and backup of all college networked systems.
  3. Assure security compliance on college systems through vulnerability assessments, patch validation, and security risk assessments
  4. Provides technical assistance and consulting.
  5. Supervises assigned personnel.
  6. Designs networked and communications systems.
  7. Coordinates the installation and maintenance of network operating systems and equipment.
  8. Analyzes requirements and prepares proposals for system projects.
  9. Responsible for troubleshooting network, communications and P.C. related problems.
  10. Assists in the specification and purchasing of related products.
  11. Assists in the design of mission critical and non-critical applications or projects.
  12. Remains up-to-date with new technology that may be utilized by the college.
  13. Responsible for generation and maintenance of documentation on the college local and wide area networks and non-administrative computer systems.
  14. Responsible for maintaining all network servers, data communications systems and application software.
  15. Responsible for maintenance of all user accounts on the networks.
  1. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  1. Assist in determining and conducting training on security for information systems and computer technology for faculty, staff, and administrators.
  2. Assist in development and enforcement of policies and procedures which promote responsible use of electronic information resources.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer-related field oran equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
  • Broad knowledge of local and wide area networking and data communications
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft network operating systems
  • Broad knowledge of personal computers and related topics
  • Broad knowledge of the Windows and UNIX operating systems
  • Ability to provide leadership on assigned projects
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Excellent problem solving skills and adaptability to ever changing situations

Preferred:

  • At least two years of experience in network management
  • At least two years of experience in systems or network security
  • At least two years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with VMware, vSphere, or Horizon View
  • Additional course work or training on the latest computer technology
