Dear Parents
YEAR 5 ACTIVITY TRIP – Pioneer Centre, Cleobury Mortimer
YEAR 6 FRENCH AND HISTORY TRIP - Château du Broutel
I am writing to confirm that arrangements for the residential trips will change during the next academic year. It has always been the intention to arrange a trip abroad for the Year 6 pupils and so with this in mind, the first trip abroad will be offered on an optional basis for the Year 6 pupils for 2015 (existing Year 5 pupils). The annual residential trip to the Pioneer Centre involving all pupils, will now take place each year and include the Year 5 pupils, with the first trip planned for the Summer 2015 (existing Year 4 pupils).
The optional trip abroad will take place at the Château du Broutel (managed and owned by Manor Adventure, Shropshire, UK), which is situated less than one hour from Calais in the small historic town of Rue. The trip is a language course with the aim of encouraging pupils to speak the French language as often as possible. There are various excursions planned including those toa French market, a chocolate factory, and a boulangerie. There is also an historical element to the trip as the children will spend one day visiting the World War 1 battlefields of the SommeValley. Evening entertainment is provided including quizzesand games.
With both trips, there will be a wide variety of additional information provided, as well as meetings with staff to gain clearer insight and to answer any questions you may have.
The cost for the residential to the Pioneer Centre is usually in the region of £180, with the cost to France set close to£300. Both costs include travel, insurance, accommodation, excursions and food. A small amount of additional spending money may also be required.
Due to the higher cost, arrangements are now being made for the French trip which will take place during March 2015. Further information will follow shortly. Please note that your child will need a full passport and EHIC card to participate in this trip.
These trips provide fantastic opportunities for our pupils, which have elements that are both educational as well as great fun!
Yours sincerely,
WENDY MOORE
