Required Materials: The laboratory manual can be downloaded from the following location. Students must have access to a copy during all experiments either electronically or on paper.
Attendance: Attendance at all laboratory meetings and completion of all laboratory experiments are mandatory. Laboratory makeups may be given at the instructor's discretion. Any uncompleted labs will result in a grade of 0 for that experiment and all reports assigned on it. Students are expected to wait 30 minutes before leaving the lab if the instructor is late. All results must be initialed by the instructor to receive credit for completing an experiment.
Grading: Grades for the laboratory will be determined using the following breakdown:
Prelabs/Experiments/Quizzes:40%
Postlabs/Lab Reports:40%
Final Exam: 20%
Grading Scale: Below is the letter grade scale that will be used in this lab:
A = 90 – 100
B = 80 – 89
C = 70 – 79
D = 60 – 69
F = Below 60
Late Assignments: Late assignments will be penalized 10 points per day after the specified due date. Late assignments may be turned in directly to me or placed in my mailbox in the basement. If you place something in my mailbox, please email me as well so I can confirm I received it. For late assignments turned in on weekends, you may email me the final copy of your assignment to stop accumulating the penalty. A hard copy that matches the electronic copy submitted must be turned in no later than 5p.m. on Monday or the assignment will continue to lose points.
Lab Reports: All students must follow the format given in the laboratory manual for reports. Lab reports must be typed however hand drawn figures are acceptable if necessary. Nothing from the lab manual may be copied straight into your reports. Doing so will result in an automatic grade of 0 on the lab report. This includes all figures, text, etc. You will need to make your own figures and write all text yourself.
Communication: My goal is to respond to all emails as soon as possible. Be aware that emails sent the day before an assignment is due may not be answered before the due date. Please plan accordingly.
Academic Integrity: Clemson's academic integrity policy may be found here: In some instances, students may be instructed to perform laboratory experiments in groups. Collaboration is allowed only on performing the experiment unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing by the instructor. This means that all prelabs, postlabs, and lab reports must be done individually. No work from prior classes may be submitted.
Course Objectives:This laboratory is designed to supplement and expand on ECE 321. The experiments will give students hands on experience building and designing practical application circuits covered in class. Students will use computer simulation software and computer connected test equipment to carry out a series of experiments.
