In the News & On the Move!

Annual Spring Lake Event was “quintessential Fordham”with camaraderie for all and vocabulary lessons (especiallyDodransbicentennial – 175 years) for some. The August 11thevening at Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club was an almost sold-out event at 170+ guests.Guest Speaker Mary Higgins Clarke (FCLC ’79 of Saddle River, “a nice Irish-Catholic girl from the Bronx”) delighted all with stories of her life, first book and the importance of scholarship funds as she kicked off the $175m scholarship campaign, to formally kick-off at the Founder’s Dinner in January. Mary did not speak of her new books, As Time Goes By released in April this year, or of The Sleeping Beauty Killer, due this fall. Go buy them!President Father J. McShane, SJ was charming and spoke to this great crowd on the “Irish Riviera.” Father met a young employee of The B&T Club as she was leaving work and found that she was an incoming freshman, class 2020. He immediately invited her and her brother to join us for dinner, which she accepted. We had large families with 4-6 alumni each in attendance. Enjoy the photos!
