Summary of Primary Sport Premium 2016-17
Objectives of spend;
  • Improve the provision of PE & School Sport
  • Ensure that PE & School Sport is judged as at least good by external monitoring
  • Broaden the sporting opportunities and experiences available to pupils
  • To develop a love of sport and physical activity
  • Ensure teaching staff are better trained to deliver PE and sport

School Sports Partnership provision / £3500 / Maintain the London 2012 pledge through regular Inter School Sport competition.
Develop opportunities for students to achieve and pass challenges e.g National Sports week, Mini Games, Athletics badges.
Develop teacher expertise through CPD, especially in gymnastics. / Competitive sports has pushed pupils to higher attainment eg Y3 4 athletics.
New athletics grades with badgesattract more pupils to athletics club.
Staff survey shows increase in confidence for all staff.
Multi Skills after School Sports Club. / Cost of two HLTA

Enrichment.
More pupils achieve within PE. / 50 pupils have attended multi -skills for 90% of sessions.
More pupils taking part in and enjoying sport
Speed-stacks after school club / Cost of two members of staff
£700 / Enrichment for pupils, especially with hand eye coordination
Develop pupil leadership skills. / 30 pupils attend for 90% of sessions. Team work skills improve. Y5 and Y6 sports leadership skills improved as they take responsibility for short sessions of the club.

Enrichment.
More pupils achieve within PE. / 20 pupils attend for 80% of sessions. Higher standard of attainment enabling school to take part in inter school cricket competitions.
Sports teacher for one day per week to teach classes and train teachers / £3.000 / Improve the quality of sports teaching and also by supporting staff confidence and competence by;
  • Team teaching.
  • Modelling.
  • Mentoring.
  • Staff CDP
/ Improvement of 25% on staff confidence in PE & School Sport survey.
Dance teacher for 12 days / £1400 / Improve the quality of dance provision and also of teacher’s ability to teach dance via modelling. / Teacher’s confidence to teach dance increases by 25% as shown on sports survey. Dance show to parents at end of course enhances positive parental views of dance.
PE teacher each afternoon / Not funded by Sports Grant but shown here as part of our commitment to improve sports outcomes at Somers Heath / To train teachers so that they can better deliver PE at other times. / Teachers confidence has increased in leading PE lessons due to support from PE teacher. This has led to better provision and lessons taught by non-PE specialists.
