The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC): 2017 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference
Theme: Composing Worlds with Words

The 1st annual regional CCCC conference is seeking proposals that address the conference’s broad theme: Composing Worlds with Words. We are looking for presentations that inspire new conversations about writers and writing, reveal what we have learned about teaching composition in the past, and how to explore our teaching practice in the future.
Proposed subthemes include:
· Writing in the genres
· Teaching students to teach themselves
· Multimodal writing / Digital writing
· Online and hybrid courses
· Writing in the disciplines
· Peer-to-peer teaching
· Social justice
· Alternative/Special Interest
Proposal Deadline
Proposals are due by January 15, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (EST)
Presentation Formats
We seek proposals for presentations that will engage the audience through discussion and/or active participation. Presentations may be in the following formats, but we encourage unique formats as well:
· Individual and Group: Individual and group presentations will be 20 minutes, including discussion. Please be mindful that audience participation is a conference goal. Conference organizers will group individual presentations together by theme.
· Panel: Groups of 4-6 presenters will submit one proposal around a stated theme. It is the expectation of the conference organizers that the panel participants will include their own Chair (who will introduce the participants, frame the issue, and maintain awareness of time). Panels will be 40 minutes.
· Alternative/Special Interest: Alternative proposals that may not necessarily fit into the above listed categories might include workshops, multimodal/multimedia presentations, or performances. Please specify 20 or 40 minutes or if you could do either time frame.
Proposal Information
Proposals must include the following information:
For multimodal proposals, please include all the below information. In place of #7, include a link to your proposal.
1. Title of proposed presentation
2. Presentation abstract (50 word maximum)
3. Names, affiliations, and email addresses of the presenters
4. Names, affiliations, and email addresses of participants
5. The subtheme you are selecting
6. The presentation format
7. A 300-400 word summary of the topic you are presenting including the points you intend to make and the way(s) you intend to engage your audience
Deadline
Submit all of the above to by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on January 15, 2017.
Subject line for submission emails must say 2017 CCCC at VCU PROPOSAL.
