Introduction to Chase Side Primary School
We are a vibrant, multicultural and inclusive community school set in the outskirts of Enfield Town. Apprentice Information Technology Assistant
Contract type: Apprenticeship

Chase Side Primary is a very popular school with a warm, inclusive environment, and creative, enthusiastic children with a thirst for learning. We are developing our technology opportunities to support the delivery of the new computing curriculum as a Mac based school, with a Mac based ICT suite and class sets of iPads.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised Apprentice Information Technology Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated staff team to support with ICT projects and to maintain our technology equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to support and work with children using ICT in a creative, innovative setting.
We are seeking someone who:-
· Is able to communicate well with staff, children and parents.
· Can provide a diagnostic ‘trouble shooting’ service.
· Can support the purchase, installation and networking of hardware and software.
· Has excellent organisation and time management skills.
· Can support the development and maintenance of our new school website.
· Assist in the running of ICT clubs for children
· Support teachers and other staff to improve their knowledge of technology and how it can enhance and extend learning and teaching

Job Description for
Apprentice Information Technology Assistant
Contract type: Apprenticeship

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Working in partnership with the school’s external ICT support agency, provide an efficient and effective ICT Technical Support Service to the school, staff and students.
Duties
Working in conjunction with the external ICT support company, he/she will be responsible for system wide technical support to curriculum and administrative Macs/PCs, iPads, laptops, printers, any other technical devices and our network installation and upkeep.
Working under the guidance of the teachers, he/she will support the teaching of ICT by preparing relevant materials and working alongside pupils and teachers in the ICT suite, in classrooms and in out of hours learning activities.
Specific duties will include:
Technical Support:
1. Resolving basic problems associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc. in the suite and around school.
2. Liasing with staff to ensure that a supply of consumable items such as printer cartridges and toners are maintained and reordered as required.
3. Ensuring that the processes set up for automatic back-ups of our network server are functional at all times.
4. Ensuring virus protection is kept up to date.
5. Maintaining the hardware database with new and updated equipment following school policies for audit requirements.
6. Installation of new software, and documenting its use on the hardware database.
7. Maintaining the school domain, adding and deleting staff and pupil’s accounts as they join or leave the school (if required).
8. Ensuring the smooth running of the School networks (Curriculum and Administration).
9. Undertaking available training opportunities and demonstrating a commitment to continuous development.
10. Keeping abreast of new developments in hardware and software.
11. Creating and maintaining an up to date Asset Registry/Inventory.
12. Testing and evaluating new technology, as appropriate.
13. Software support: including installing and configuring common Microsoft desktop applications such as Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as smartphone and tablet applications as suitable for devices used throughout the school.
14. Maintaining a log of any software or hardware problems detected and addressing these quickly and efficiently with the support of the external ICT company if needed.
15. Addressing hardware issues: assisting third party infrastructure suppliers and setting up/decommissioning devices such as PC’s, printers, iPads and tablets.
16. Talking staff through a series of actions, either face to face, email or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues.
17. Troubleshooting problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults with the assistance of our third party support company when needed.
Whole School Support:
1. Being aware of and following all school policies and procedures, in particular policies related to the use of ICT equipment and sites.
2. Being aware of confidential issues linked to home/pupil/teacher/school work and to keep confidences as appropriate.
3. Maintaining the school web site and ensuring that information is accessible and up to date.
4. Ensure that all staff, parents and pupils are using the Learning Platform effectively.
5. Working with the ICT coordinator to develop the use of the Learning Platform.
6. Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post.
7. Obtain quotes, which represent best value, for new ICT equipment / repairs etc.
This job description may be amended following discussion between the Headteacher, ICT Coordinator and the member of staff and will be reviewed accordingly.
