UT Scholars Institute Program(SIP)
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce 2nd annualUT Scholars Institute Program (SIP). This opportunity is designed to help prepare early career faculty members for successful grant writing and developing a fundable research program. Participation in the institute is open to all non-tenured faculty members who are within their first 4 years of hire. Participants in the institute will acquire broad perspectives in topics important to gaining external funding for research projects, including:
- preparing for grant submissions
- identifying external sources of funding
- effective proposal writing & the review process
- budgets & proposal research goals
- accessing UT resources
- the proposal submission process
- the award process & sponsor requirements
At the conclusion of the workshop, all partcipants will provide a two-page draft proposal summary and will participate in peer-review of participant proposals.
Other topics may be selected based on the interests of the selected participants.
The 2018 institute will convene in March 5, 2018 and consist of five daily sessions, concluding on March 9, 2018. Selected participants will meet dailyfrom 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and discussions will be facilitated by UT faculty and staff from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Participation will be limited to 30 faculty members. Preference will be given to those who have not previously participated in SIP.

To be considered for participation in the UT Scholars Institute, pleasesubmit a single pdf file with:
- a letter of application
- a copy of your current CV
- a copy of the attached form signed by your chair
Your letter of application should include a brief narrative describing your interest in research and line of inquiry. You should also identify particular topicsof interest to you.
