Lake Villa Timberwolves Jr. Coach Expectations

THANK YOU for your interest in volunteering with the Lake Villa Timberwolves Youth Cheer and Dance program! As a Junior Coach you will have the opportunity to learn about leadership, and experience it in your role as a Junior Coach. Please read over the following description and requirements.

Core Duties/ Responsibilities:

Support the lead and assistant coaches.

This may include, but is not limited to:

Leading stretching

Teaching the younger children the proper basics and fundamentals of cheer/dance

Choreographing a competition routine in conjunction with your head coach and respecting your

your head coaches decision to make changes. You may not override Head coaches decisions.

Choreographing one or more half time routines

Being respectful of coaches and participants at all times

Serve as a role model and mentor by being on time, dressing appropriately, having a positive

outlook. Negativity is frowned upon.

Attend LVT practices at least 2 days each week. Jr. coaches for all teams except Varsity are

Expected to be at the weekend football games to assist the Head Coaching staff.

As a Junior Coach, you are expected to stay in good communication with your head coach and

must alert them to any impending absences. Advance notice of at least 48 hours is requested

however, if there is an emergency, please just call your Head Coach.

Encourage girls!

Attendance at EVERY competition unless you yourself are competing in another venue or have your own practice.

Be an asset to your team. Use your strengths and skills to help the girls on your team to be the best they can be.

Be polite to all parents, even when they may not be polite to you. If you have an issue with a

parent, please direct them to your head coach or to the Director of the program. Do not

engage with them if they are displeased.

Qualifications:

A strong desire to help the girls on your team have a great cheer/dance experience

Excellent communication skills

The ability to be flexible and to improvise when needed

To inspire and motivate others to believe in their abilities

Responsible and Reliable

The capacity to work in a partnership with Head coaches and Program Directors
