PLAYOFF ROUND TIE-BREAKER FORMAT

The top four teams in the playoff round will proceed to the playoffs.
The first place team will play the fourth place team and the second place team will play the third place team.
The higher placed team shall be the home team.
In the event of ties for any of the four playoff positions, the following procedure willapply in determining the final placement of teams.
N.B. There will be no tie games in the playoff round.
If, after the playoff round:
1. Two teams are tied for first place. The team thatwon the head-to-head game shall be declared the firstplace team.
2. Three teams are tied for first place. If one teamhas a 2-0 advantage over the other two teams in thehead-to-head games, it shall be declared the firstplace team. Second place will be determined on thebasis of the head-to-head game between the other two teams during the playoffs. If all three teams have a1-1 record against the other two teams(therebyeliminating the head-to-head criterion), first, secondand third places will bedetermined on the basis ofthe fewest runs scored against each team among thethree teams tied for the placement; that is, among thethree games taking place between the three teamsinvolved, the one with the fewest runs against will beawarded first place. Second place will be awarded tothe winner of the head-to-head game between those twoteams.
3. Four teams are tied for first place. Each team willhave played three games, one against each of the otherthree. A team with a 3-0 win/loss record in head-tohead competitionagainst the other three will beawarded first place. If two teams have 2-1 records against the other three teams, the team winning thehead-to head between those two teams will be awardedfirst place and the other team second place. Similarly, the third and fourth places will be awardedto the teams with 1-2 records on the basis of their head-to-head game between those two teams.
4. Two teams are tied for second or third place. Thehigher place will be awarded on the basis of thehead-to-head game between those two teams.
5. More than two teams are tied for second, third, orfourth place. The first criterion will be head-to-headagainst each other in the playoffs. Where more thantwo teams have identical won/loss records in the playoffs against each other, e.g. 1-1, the placementshall be determined on the basis of fewest runs scoredagainst in the games between the teams involved. See2 above.
6. In the event that there is still a tie among two ormore teams still contending for a playoff position, the criterion of ‘fewest runs scored against' shall beextended to the fewest runs scored against all teamscontending for one of the final playoff positions.
