I’m an NHS employee in Peterborough but I do not work for CPFT. Can I access the library?
We are more than happy to allow non-CPFT staff access to the library. You have to be a CPFT staff member or a student on placement with CPFT to check out books, but we are happy to let non-CPFT staff access our books within the library, and use our computer facilities. Please note that we are in a secure staff area of the Cavell Centre and not immediately accessible.
I have title suggestions for the Cavell Centre Library. Who should I talk to?
If you have anysuggestions please speak to the Assistant Librarian.
Can I check books out from the Laxton Library at PeterboroughCityHospital?
The Laxton library at Peterborough City Hospital is run by Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals Trust. Staff are happy to help staff from other Trusts, but you will not usually have borrower privileges from this library. Should you wish toborrow an item owned by the library, it can usually be borrowed for you through the Cavell Centre library.

The Cavell Centre Library, Peterborough.
To better serve staff based in the north part of our service area, a second library facility has been opened based at the Cavell Centre on the Edith Cavell Campus in Peterborough.
The new library provides knowledge, library, and information services to staff at the Cavell Centre and beyond, serving all CPFT staff but focusing on the needs of those in the north part of our service area.
Where is the Cavell Centre library located?
The library is located on the first floor of the Cavell Centre. Access to the first floor is behind a secure door, so if you do not have a key card for the building you will need to check in with the reception desk.
Staffed opening hours for the Cavell Centre Library
The library is staffed from Monday to Friday. At other times, and on other days of the week, mediated access to the library can be obtained by signing in at the Cavell Centre reception desk. There is a book box in the library for returning items.
Can I contact the library outside these times?
Yes. The Fulbourn library is open Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5PM. You will be able to contact the Fulbourn library via telephone and email.
What facilities are available at the Cavell Centre Library?
In addition to a mental health book collection, the library houses over twenty current journal subscriptions on a wide range of subjects. The library also contains a reading area, computer and printing facilities.
