The State Library: The State Library is located in the Forum Building, and the Main Entrance is located on South Drive (north side of the building), facing the park across from the back of the Capitol Building, “Soldiers Grove.”

To reach the meeting at the Library: The main entrance for the Library is on the north side of the Forum Building (see map, last page). You’ll come into the lobby and see the passenger elevators directly ahead. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Once you come off the elevators, turn left. Conference room 321 is at the left side of the hallway.

Accessibility: The Library is accessible for individuals with disabilities through the Main Entrance. Any individuals needing further assistance should check with library staff in any of the reading rooms.

From Pennsylvania Turnpike:Exit the PA Turnpike I-76 at HarrisburgEastShore Exit #247. Drive North on I-283 to the junction with I-83. Exit left onto I-83 (signs will indicate “Harrisburg”). Exit right off I-83 onto Second Street, Exit #43. Proceed North on Second Street. At the fourth traffic light, turn right onto Market Street. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Fifth Street. At the end of Fifth Street is a traffic light at the “T” intersection with Walnut Street, turn left at the light onto Walnut Street. The State Library is located in the ForumBuilding at the corner of Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

From US 22-322 North:Drive south on Cameron Street to the interchange of US 22-322 and I-81. Follow instructions below – “From I-81,” coming from either direction.

From I-81:Exit I-81 at Exit 67A, Cameron Street South. Proceed south on Cameron Street. At the fifth traffic light, turn right onto Market Street. Drive west on Market Street under a bridge overpass and turn right on the other side of the overpass, onto Fifth Street. At the end of Fifth Street is a traffic light at the “T” intersection with Walnut Street, turn left at the light onto Walnut Street. The State Library is located in the ForumBuilding at the corner of Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

From HarrisburgInternationalAirport:Follows signs from airport to Harrisburg. The airport connector road will lead you onto I-283. Drive north on I-283 to the junction with I-83; exit left onto I-83. Follow signs to “Harrisburg.” Exit right off I-83 onto Second Street, Exit #43. Proceed north on Second Street. At the fourth traffic light, turn right onto Market Street. On Market Street, at the third traffic light, turn left onto Fifth Street. At the end of Fifth Street is a traffic light at the “T” intersection with Walnut Street, turn left at the light onto Walnut Street. The State Library is located in the ForumBuilding at the corner of Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

From US 11-15 South:Route US 11 from Carlisle, and Route 15 from Gettysburg (at the interchange with PA 581, Capitol Beltway, a few miles west of Harrisburg). Follow PA 581 until it joins I-83 and proceed on I-83 North across the Susquehanna River. Take the Second Street Exit, #43. At the third traffic light, turn right onto Market Street. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Fifth Street. At the end of Fifth Street is a traffic light at the “T” intersection with Walnut Street, turn left at the light onto Walnut Street. The State Library is located in the ForumBuilding at the corner of Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

From Camp Hill Bypass via the HarveyTaylorBridge (WestShore locations):At the end of the bridge, turn right onto Front Street and proceed south. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Market Street. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Fifth Street. At the end of Fifth Street is a traffic light at the “T” intersection with Walnut Street, turn left at the light onto Walnut Street. The State Library is located in the ForumBuilding at the corner of Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

Parking

Free and Metered Parking:There are several visitor spaces on Commonwealth Avenue between North Drive and Walnut Street. All Capitol Complex visitors’ spaces have a one or two-hour limit; all spaces designated for individuals with disabilities have a two-hour limit.
