Residents of Querencia at barton creek celebrate mardi gras new orleans-style
Austin, march 09, 2009: Bright colors, beaded necklaces, New Orleans-style décor and lively music set the stage for the recent Mardi Gras celebration held at Querencia at Barton Creek retirement resort. The “Big Easy” evening began in the Mesquite Dining Room at Querencia where residents enjoyed traditional Cajun cuisine, as well as lively and rhythmic entertainment by New Orleans-inspired brass band the Ben Frederick’s Band.
“The community’s Mardi Gras celebration was exciting and upbeat for everyone who joined in the festivities,” said Emily Yeager, lifestyles directorofQuerencia. “The enthusiasm of the residents and New Orleans-style entertainment from the Ben Frederick’s Band created an authentic atmosphere that was reminiscent of an evening in the French Quarter.”
