Portfolio Workshop
Most of the awards given during Achievement Night as well as 4-H Bucks earned are based on information in your 4-H Portfolio (record book). There will be a workshop to help you get your portfolio in tip-top shape. Your portfolio may also be used to help with scholarship applications and other exciting 4-H opportunities such as 4-H Ambassadors, National 4-H Congress, and National 4-H Conference.
The portfolio workshop will be held at the courthouse on Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Portfolio pages can be downloaded from our webpage. Go to carboncounty4-h.org and click on the “portfolios” link.
Portfolio Due Date
Portfolios are due Wednesday, October 31, 2007. They need to be in so we can send them off to be judged in time for Achievement Night.
Achievement Night
CarbonCounty 4-H Achievement Night will be on Friday, November 16, 2007. Put it on your schedule now. Plan to attend to receive your awards, spend your 4-H bucks and watch the year-in-review slideshow. There will be a great meal as always. We will provide the main dish and will get requests for potluck desserts and salads sent to you in November. Plan on a great time.
4-H Bucks
Those members who hand in their portfolios will have the opportunity to spend the 4-H bucks they have earned with their participation throughout the year. We will have lots of neat 4-H things for members to “buy” with their 4-H Bucks. Check the included page for information about how many 4-H Bucks you can earn with different 4-H activities.

2008 Leadermete
Leadermete is an excellent opportunity for 4-H leaders to share activities and projects that work. CarbonCounty 4-H is hosting Leadermete in April. Anyone (leaders or youth) who has an idea that they would like to share may go to to download a proposal for a workshop. Leaders or youth who would like to help with the Leadermete please contact Kathie at the office at 636-3233. At the very least look at the workshops that will be offered to get some great ideas for your own club. Registration information will be available after January 1, 2008. More information to come.
4-H Website
Visit the CarbonCounty website at see what is available. The calendar of events and volunteer training information is available. There is still a lot of information we can provide and as time goes on we hope to have a fun, dynamic website for 4-H. If you have ideas on what can be included to make the website better contact Ron at the Extension office.
Teen Council
Teen Council is where 4-H members have a say in what they would like to do in 4-H. Teen Council members plan a lot of activities for the summer program. This year’s Teen Council planned and implemented several activities such as the talent show, the July 4 service project, the summer camp, and other fun activities. This is also a great step up to State Ambassador and other exciting state-level activities. All 4-H members in grades 8-12 are invited to join Teen Council. Applications are available on the website ( and are due at Achievement Night.
