COURSE DESCRIPTION
Advisory is a campus-wide initiative that is designed to provide students with academic and attendance support in a structured environment. Specific advisory class goals may vary, but the intent for all advisory sections is to enrich learning, support the TGB campus SMART goals, and provide as many academic interventions as possible.

* Your grade will be determined by points based on your attendance and participation in advisory. It is an expectation that students work on assignments from other classes or complete reading and math intervention material. Attendance is defined as being present every day. Participation is defined as working on teacher assigned assignments, reading a book, or completing AIMS practice activities. Accommodations and modifications will be included per IEP or 504 plan.
TITLE 1 PROGRAM:
*Academic tutoring and test preparation is available to all students. Additional support for passing classes and graduating on time is the intent of these services. Support through Title I funding is available in the areas of: Math, Reading and English. If interested, please contact the Principal Dr. Gabriel Trujillo, or Assistant Principal for Instruction Ms. Stephanie Streeter for additional information at (602)764-8517.
* Parents will receive progress reports via parent portal (ParentVue) as well as progress reports via US mail every three weeks.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
“Absent” is defined as nonattendance in an assigned class or activity for more than one-half of the period. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR)
“Tardy is defined as not being in the assigned class or activity when the tardy bell has finished ringing. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR)
CELL PHONE POLICY
Cellphones are not allowed to be out in the classroom during Advisory period.
ID POLICY
All students are expected to wear their IDs at all times. IDs are required to access many school services. Students who violate this expectation may be subject to disciplinary action.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
- Students will watch BTV.
- Students will complete tasks assigned by the advisory teacher.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
1. RESPECT. Respect your teacher, fellow classmates, their possessions, the classroom, school property and yourself.
2. Take responsibility for your own learning.
3. Be on time for class and be IN the room when the final bell rings.
4. Be prepared for class each day with all necessary materials.
5. Follow all school-wide policies for appropriate behavior, dress and electronics. (cell phones, headsets,etc.)
6. It is expected that students will adhere to all appropriate teacher requests, directives, and classroom rules.
