Environment waste management club of Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School
Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School is actually a waste free school comparing to other schools. We don't let the canteen people sell packet foods, etc;which liters the surrounding and spoils the beauty of the school.
The common waste that we can see in YangchenphugSchool is with the plastic mineral water bottles and fruity juice packets. These waste are not seen every day, whenever our school has programs where the students along with the teachers are served refreshments which includes mineral waters is the time where the bottles are disposed off in the bins. Some are thrown in the campus. We, the waste management club took the initiative to collect these bottles and segregate the bottle caps. Some members including the environment captains crushed the bottles and put them in sacks. The members collect the cardboard boxes too which was brought in along with the mineral water bottles. These boxes are made flat and then kept over one another. We YangchenphugHigher Secondary School has a room for the waste management club where we can keep these bottles, cardboard boxes and of course fruity juice packets. When everything is set ready like crushing the bottles, segregating the bottle caps, making the cardboard boxes flat, we call the greener way to collect the waste.
On Saturday, 8th of August 2015, the greener way people came to collect the waste. The details are given below in the pictures.
Greener way people pays for the pet bottles collected and cardboard boxes after weighing but they do not pay for the fruity juice packets where the club members took up extra afford in collecting the packets. I, being the coordinator did talk to the greener way’s in-charge to look into this matter so that students will take in extra afford if they are motivated. So, in this way we are moving towards zero waste in the school. We, the management team make it an afford to keep consistency in this waste club by making announcements in the assembly to dispose the pet bottles, fruity packets properly in the bin so that the members can collect it. This is how we maintain cleanliness and move towards greener environment in YangchenphugHigher Secondary School.
